A cyber espionage operation by China seven years ago produced sensitive technology and aircraft secrets that were incorporated into the latest version of Chinas new J-20 stealth fighter jet, according to U.S. officials and private defense analysts.
The Chinese cyber spying against the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II took place in 2007 under what U.S. intelligence agencies codenamed Operation Byzantine Hades, a large-scale, multi-year cyber program that targeted governments and industry.
Defense officials said the stolen data was obtained by a Chinese military unit called a Technical Reconnaissance Bureau in the Chengdu province. The data was then passed to the state-run Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC).
An AVIC subsidiary, the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, used the stolen data in building the J-20, said defense and intelligence officials familiar with reports of the illicit tech transfer.
Pentagon technology security officials in 2011 opposed a joint venture between General Electric and AVIC over concerns that U.S. fighter jet technology would be diverted to AVICs military aircraft programs. The Obama administration ignored the concerns and instead has since promoted the systematic loosening of technology controls on transfers to China.

This means that the Chinese Jet will be as big as a Piece of SH!T as the “F-35”!
Maybe a couple drones got lost in Serbia and Iraq.
Maybe China paid cash for trash?
Maybe China has been ripping us off for a bit more than 7 years .
...putting even longer legs under the contention in informed quarters that klintoon shuttled military secrets out the back door of the Spite House to the Chicoms for huge campaign contributions.
We’re gonna need more rope. A LOT MORE!
Worse, it will be made in China!
In America we can afford to spend billions of $ developing CRAP just for the sole intent another country will try to steal, copy or surpass the same.
Many people believe that is what broke the USSR apart, they spent too much trying to match and surpass our subs back then out of titanium, trying to make a Concorde copy, a Space Shuttle copy. etc.
I wish China well, maybe THEY can make a working version of the F-35. Maybe right now the Chinese are reverse engineering a missing 777....
They’ve stolen most of the private industry trade secrets, might as well have the military secrets as well.
Two decades of free trade has really worked out well for us. Our industrial infrastructure has been transferred to China killing the American middle class and giving the Chicoms the manufacturing capability to build a superior military. Now they are just stealing our military secrets to complete the task.
In the history of the world has there ever been a nation that consciously pursued policies to destroy its economic base, build up the economy of its enemy, and provide its military technology to its enemy?
Not hard to see the end game here.
Until they can start copying our best pilots I am not worried. If they were copying the F-22 I would be more worried. The F-35? How do you say GOOD LUCK in Chinese?
STOLEN....... overlooks that Barry Half-White most likely GAVE the plans to them... and probably the Russkies as well..
If The Clintoons were a headache the Obamanoids are a brain hemorrhage
Rotsa Ruck!
Will be? It already is.
Hah !
The Clintons probably sold the secrets to the Red Chinese...
What's the old Silicon Valley saying? "Half the Chinese here are spying on us, the other half are spying on them!"
We shafted our real allies by not selling them the F22, not even an export version. Australia, Israel and Japan were interested and would have paid top dollar or yen or whatever. The Japanese said screw it and are developing their own stealth.
Hey, it’s the Harrier on steroids.
Restore the import tariffs, put Americans back to work.
Restore the import tariffs, put Americans back to work.
I believe this bird was designed to be a cheap, lightweight, semi-stealthy replacement for the venerable F-16. Tons of new avionics and smart-weapons technology.
They missed the cheap part.
But it was never designed or intended to compete with even a F-15c for air superiority.
Drones were ones who sent F117A in the third rate theatre.
Chicoms are quite happy about it. Try to find RAND Corp. Pacific 2020
