It sounds like an honest mistake. Not guilty.
I wouldn't go that far. I think this will, as said above, stay with her forever. She never thought through the consequences, she just lied.
choices have consequences.
Prisons & death rows have been & still are filled with people who killed in a "heat of the moment" situation.
If anything she gets charged. Her actions led to the boys death.
Surprise! Your daughter is a slut. And a liar. And you committed homicide.
I hope it plays out that way. However, playing devils advocate, it won’t shield the family from wrongful death. Daughter let the boy in, so the family is liable.
If you awaken to a stranger in your house and you fear for the life of you are your family you shoot him. He’s in Texas...he’ll go free. As he should!~!!
Don’t know the history here but the old joke for dad’s with daughters, shoot the first boy that comes sniffing around.
She’s sixteen.....she if anything will be charged with a misdemeanor in juvenile court!!!
He was 17. She said he was in the house uninvited. He reached for something. Do I celebrate it? No. One dead and the other two in therapy for a long time does not sound like a win. Would I pull the trigger? I cannot know. In Texas, this is likely an open and shut case. I know of at least one woman here in Tennessee who got away with murdering her husband by making up an abuse charge after the fact. The father would not be so fortunate here.
“He shouldnt have been in her room.”
Screwing around in the girl’s house with the family at home is very poor judgement, but I remember how strong the mating drive is at that age. I hope she was worth it.
Deputies: Dad fatally shoots teen boy found in daughters bedroom
snip
According to detectives, his 16-year-old daughter let a 17-year-old boy in the
house and snuck him into her bedroom.
Her younger brother went to say good night and saw two feet sticking out under
the bed, detectives said. He then went to get his father.
The father walks in and asks questions, but his daughter claims not to know the
male teen. The father then called 911, but an argument ensued with the teenage boy.
The father told police the boy dropped his hands as if to grab something, so
the man opened fire. The teen died at the scene.
end snip
The cop would say "I felt threatened" end of story
I’m inclined to agree that killing the boy was a little over the top.
Maybe a little impromptu neutering, perhaps?
bttt
Darwin Award: A 17-year-old boy should know better than sneaking into a stranger’s house during the wee hours for any reason, even if he does know the daughter. Particularly in Texas.
I remember a similar case in Houston that happened 50+ years ago. The angry dad shot the unwelcome Romeo in the ear with a .22 caliber pistol.
The daughter denied knowing who the boy was.
Maybe she meant that she didnt know his name.
When I saw the headline on the Link it reads “Teen Shot, Father Investigated”
My journalism classes years ago taught me that the way one crafts the headline can already cause an opinion to be drawn.
In this case, the headline makes it clear that the Father is suspicious and must be guilty.
I would not be so polite to anyone, kid or adult, who was in bed with my 16 year old daughter.
