Breaking the law again. Why is he still in office? (Dumb question, I know).

The problem is, ploys like this really work. If they didn’t they wouldn’t be used so frequently.

Since the president doesn’t follow the law, why do the rest of us have to?

Yeah, yeah, I know - they got the guns and the legal “authority” to use them.

If the IRS phones to find out why someone hasn’t bought insurance, the agent will presumably ask if they’d like to claim a “hardship” exemption and the answer inevitably will be yes. No muss, no fuss.
***I doubt it will go down that way. IRS won’t go along with a “no muss no fuss” plan because bureaucrats rarely, if ever, give up power that was granted to them.

They will never impeach, arrest, or investigate the first black President of the US. Not going to happen...

“So they’re going to let people who want/need the exemption discover it on their own.”

Excellent analysis. This is pretty much the same as the theory behind coupons instead of lower prices. Give a break to the folks who thought the item was too expensive but still let the folks who were willing to pay full price do so.

It’s like “just mention this ad and get 10% off your first order”. When you are at the register they don’t say “oh do you want to mention the ad and save 10%?”

If you don’t know about the exemption and you are going to buy insurance because you think you have to they won’t have a click box on the wensite that says “Would you like to claim hardship and exit this morass without paying a penalty?”

Remember when they rammed this law down our throat? Health care was too important, to urgent to accommodate such niceties as debate, hearings, alternate solutions. Obamacare needed to happen and it needed to happen NOW! Obamacare was always about power, never about solving a problem.

the law is unworkable and the fine will be waived on everyone before tax day, effectively nullifying the law and doing what Cruz wanted.
