NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police and fire officials are on the scene of an explosion and partial building collapse at 116th Street and Park Avenue in Upper Manhattan Wednesday morning.
“Probably a meth lab.”
Ding ding ding... Who had a space heater on to keep the place warm.
One resident of an adjoining building stated to a Fox reporter that he and other neighbors smelled gas LAST NIGHT!!!!!
It seems that because their own gas lines were OK they felt safe.
According to the reporting - NYC gas lines have had similar incidents. Infrastructure taxes will be next.
Small debris=high brisance.
One woman said she smelled gas for days.
bean burritos?
Brand new building. Only occupied for a month or two.
Meth Lab(s)?
rice please, no fries
I can’t believe these neighbors smelled gas and no one checked it out.
Worked NG 35 years it is safe if not tampered with. Sounds like System was tampered with maybe to circumvent a terminated line! Depending on the age of the line electrolysis could be a factor in an underground line!
Or when I was a kid a family went out of town over Christmas holiday and left a burner on not ignited and it blew an apartment building up and killed 7. But that was 50 years ago.
Thanx.
we see these stories now and then, unfortunately.
I just wonder why a neighbor would make a call or knock on a door, if they continuously smelled gas. I guess I’m old school.
Hard to say but if anyone ever smells NG they should call the Gas Provider or 911 and leave the dwelling. Esp if you live in community housing. NG is not to be fooled with! They put that odor in for a reason! If you walk in and smell NG do not turn the lights on leave the door open and call 911 and leave.
Prayers for the victims.
indeed!!!
And local news gets their instructions from the WhiteyHut.....
Meth ain’t an NYC thing. That is for the rest of the country.
Older buildings use oil boilers with steam heating to apartments. Newer ones may use gas.
