Large explosion, fire in East Harlem; at least 11 hurt

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police and fire officials are on the scene of an explosion and partial building collapse at 116th Street and Park Avenue in Upper Manhattan Wednesday morning.

We’ve seen what a steam line explosion can do to a street in New York City. Imagine a steam line explosion inside a building—and it explodes at the right spot to cause the most damage.

There was one of these in my general area two weeks ago. Contractors ruptured a gas line and a huge explosion and fire resulted. Amazingly, only one death. 10 houses destroyed and many more damaged. No effort was made to evacuate the area, all they did was call the utility to come fix their pipe.

Could also be someone building a bomb I guess. One of those workplace accidents where it detonates ahead of its time.
