3,000 Americans around the world renounced their citizenship last year. Meet five U.S. citizens who have given up their passports -- or are thinking about it -- to escape an overly complicated tax code.
I threw up after renouncing

I renounced my U.S. citizenship in 2011. After I did it, I was so emotional that I threw up outside the embassy.
During my renunciation, I broke down. It was like getting a divorce. America gave me my education, a good career path, and I came from a beautiful part of the country. This was very hard.
Before I took the last oath, I asked if I could change my mind. The embassy worker said maybe, with official permission. But I still went through with it.
My decision to renounce was triggered when my bank threatened to close my account because I was American. What would I do without a bank? Americans in Switzerland were having trouble with their investments, getting credit cards, and some weren't even getting loans.
I've been in Switzerland since 1990, and became a citizen in 2005, because I wanted the right to vote where I was living. The Swiss can tell I have an American accent, and I'm often explaining that I grew up in the U.S. and have a daughter who still lives in the Boston area.

” All of their reasons were TAX related.”

Yes, as I said, I do not know any other reason, but some may have other issues.
“Vile, childish and hateful because we do not feel their pain”. There you go again coward. We don’t hate anyone. We do indeed DETEST a chickensh%t deserting coward that continues to slam America from a third world. “There is nothing you can do but vote” you say? Maybe for gutless cowards like yourself that is the case but the dawgs feel different. Now, since you told us all about the bottle a day of red wine drinking problem you have, I guess we might assume you are ‘buzzed while posting’ often. That might explain things. Or maybe not. (Oh yeah....WHERE IS THE QUOTE LIAR?)
“Sorry to stick my big, fat nose in y’all’s conversation”
Always welcome.
“It’s not that the Constitution, our founding principles or our national ideals are eroding...they’re not. It’s that We The Sheeple have stopped believing in them, have stopped supporting and defending them, and in many cases, are embarrassed by them. All of this is happening because those of us with the means to defend America, and the knowledge and skills to teach her greatness to our countrymen, have long since stopped doing so.”
The Constitutional Rights have been chipped away at by the courts. They have been drowned in a rising see of law and regulation by unelected bureaucrats. Just try to name rights that have not been limited already. Each year brings less freedom than our Constitution set out to secure.
“We are the reason our fellow Americans have lost faith in our nation. We’ve failed them, and we’ve failed our forefathers.”
Speak for yourself here. I’ve done the work. I’ve written. I’ve called. I’ve dug deeply to give to (R) candidates to retake the Senate the last time. Wish I had the money back that they squandered. Our RINOs have subverted our efforts. I finally concluded that we have the EXACT situation in our country that both parties want. Each side has had complete control of government and nothing changes. As an independent conservative, I wish a pox on both their parties.
“Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!”
Ho back at ya.
I had an opportunity to take an expat position in the Netherlands back in 2006, the primary reason I didn't take it was due to the tax complications of working in the Netherlands, and having to report my income to the U.S.
Further complicating my tax filings were property ownership, property rentals, and an interest in a U.S. based business for which I was part owner.
I really wanted to take the opportunity and move my family to Netherlands for two years but it was too complicated for me from a tax perspective. Shame, we could've seen some pretty parts of Europe on holidays.
ROFLMAO!!!! Tell that to the welfare queens and welfare rats that have been living off of you and I while they've been sucking at the government teat for generations.
Next time think about the words you're using to slam others before you hit the post button.
How is the blood of American patriots funny? What kind of person laughs at that?
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Our rights haven't gone anywhere...it's just that we've allowed black robed tyrants to tell us what our rights are. No court can take away what God Himself bestowed upon us. There's a big difference between rights and the law. The law isn't sacred, but our rights are. So we need to stop letting the courts tell us which rights we can and can't "keep".
"Speak for yourself here. Ive done the work. Ive written. Ive called. Ive dug deeply to give to (R) candidates to retake the Senate the last time. Wish I had the money back that they squandered."
Thank you for your hard work. You've done about as much as one man, by himself, can do. That's why I say it's time for us to go out and coax, encourage and lead the silent majority out of their meek little hidey-holes, and train them to be fanatics. Imagine if there were tens of thousands more of you, all calling, writing letters, and sending money to Tea Party conservative candidates. How much more effective would that be than just you doing all those things by yourself? It will take coaching, teaching and a lot of encouragement, but if you can turn one meek, wavering conservative into a fanatic, then have them go out and do what you're doing, the compound effect will be amazing.
Rather than trying to fight this battle as a bunch of individuals, we need to become community organizers. That may run counter to our nature, but we just need to get over it. We can accomplish a helluva lot more building a unified team than we can as thousands of individuals.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Your opponents’ public displays of envy, their insults, vulgarisms, posturing, chauvinism, are no proofs of their patriotism, I’m afraid, only of their uncultured, primitive characters. But you already know that. People lacking intellectual horizons are like that. It’s called false patriotism. Some of the most patriotic men in history, not only Americans, spent much of their lives away from their homelands, teaching us many fine things about life and country. Cheers!

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, my patriotism for the USA is beyond any question. My disgust and dislike, however, for the Marxist in control has no bounds.
Those that criticize me with their vulgar and childish quips obviously have issues with their own lives that they can not control.
Well until you wake up one morning and your bank acct has taken a 25% haircut. But thats probably coming here soon also. I think I’ll stick with the Devil I know. :-)
Thats not what I was laughing at, it was the first part of his statement and you would’ve known that had you read the rest of my post, which made it painfully obvious.
Anyone who begets a child who at birth has a 50% chance of attending his own father’s funeral before reaching adulthood has issues with his own life that he cannot control.
“...Tell that to the welfare queens and welfare rats...”
I don’t consider them Americans.
“...Next time think about the words you’re using to slam others before you hit the post button....”
I’ll make a note of your expert advice.
“...Quit being so dramatic. ...”
Oh. Ok... boss.
Give it a break already. Al.
Nobody hates you. Your snotty attitude is what started it.
who left it. ?
The more the man/child writes, the more convinced I am that he is a potted plant, send to stir things up.
Such an annoying little gnat. But oh so much fun ;-)

Here we disagree - unless you are now advocating that we commence firing.
Laws in our country are enforced at the point of a sword or barrel of a gun. Just try to exert your rights and see. When you are convicted and refuse to pay a fine, just see the sword or gun come out.
Every right in our Constitution (as near as I can tell) has been reduced.
Your own words; “As an older adult I will now try to give up wine. It will not be easy as I drink one bottle of red wine a day”. ‘Try’ to give up?....Not ‘easy’? Hey little fella, don’t lecture the dawgs about control issues when it is clear you are the one with a little, ahem, ‘problem’. Your patriotism? What a crock! All you do is post a never ending stream of anti-American garbage from a third world mess. Oh yeah: WHERE IS THE QUOTE LIAR? Why don’t you answer wkuman’s question? Go ahead little fella, but down your bottle and give it a try!
