A US Army physician came home from a tour in Afghanistan to find that his little princess had turned into a porn star. Devout Catholic Dr. Kevin Weeks was stunned by the news, but told relatives he and his wife are still supportive of Miriam, a Duke University freshman who has been having sex on camera to pay for her huge tuition bill.

Well, at least she has a vocation to fall back on; not much of a future with either one of those degrees.
If you are going to pay $60,000 a year get a degree that makes you employable at a salary great than 1/2 of your yearly tuition.
Not sure about the family’s financial situation. But I have two in college, and they don’t even let you stand foot on campus until financial obligations are met. Parents have to sign off on payment plans, loans etc. So I doubt she needed porn to pay for tuition. More of a sensationalized excuse.
Fwiw,she continues to enjoy her work as a porn star. And wants to make it a career. How nice.

It was an interesting story, to be sure, but one statement stood out to me: “Tuition at Duke is about $60,000 a year.”
I graduated from a small but prestigious college in my state, where almost all courses were taught by PhDs and there were no graduate assistants teaching, that was not allowed. The tuition, room and board then (1962-66) was $1,300 a year. Here, at an admittedly nationally-known school, it’s many times higher, and adjusting for inflation that $1,300 in 1966 was $9,500 today. Note that the above does not appear to include room and board. I submit that there is no way that this young lady is getting a much, much better education than I did. Maybe somewhat but not to that monetary tune.

Yes, this young woman made a very bad decision. But she has a lot of company. A lot of young women seem to have no trouble doing porn, including sex webcams. It’s kind of sad and pathetic, especially when you hear it is how they are “working” their way through school. At least if you’re a traditional prostitute, it’s easier to keep the activity quiet. Some of these women may actually imagine they’re actresses. To me, they are just prostitutes who get paid to have sex on camera. What man in their right mind will want to hire or marry these women?
Theres no infamy associated with watching porn. Its very common among the younger generations.
Duke University has a $6.0 billion endowment as of 2013, subsidized by the US taxpayer through favorable tax treatment.
She needs to stop screwing aroun............. Oh, she already is. Maybe she needs to pick up the pace. In either case, for me, the parents need to (if they’re picking up any of the tab) tell her she can either stop or they’ll stop. Is she under 26? I guess they can’t cut her off until then since that apparently is the new end age for childhood.
We lecture our kids not to do drugs, but who imagines that they have to tell their children NOT to be act in porn movies? It’s a brave, new, crappy cesspool of a world.

If she where suing for abortion rights, how many people would be there screaming about, ‘her body, her choice, her right...blah, blah blah.
Yet using her body, her choice, her right, to make money is ‘heartbreaking.’
To me that’s always been one of the worst aspects of abortion. It somebody argues that there is an absolute right to destroy life, how can anything less than that ever be called bad? Once you’ve allowed abortion, nudity, sex for hire, etc, etc, are really just parking tickets.
When she gets a little more meat on her bones she will earn big bucks as a porn star. She will then write a graduate thesis on the economics of being a $5,000/night incall companion.
At some point one of her clients, rich clients, will insist that she get out of the business and become his alone. At that point he will give her a condo that includes in addition to a budoir, a complete up to date office with research facilities from which she will write award winning blog pieces. The blog will become well received and she will receive speaking engagements at $50,000 per crack.
Somebody’s about to become a Democrat candidate for congress...
With those majors, I’m sure a good state college or community college could have sufficed for much cheaper.
OTOH, we have the NJ girl..the same age, who's suing her parents for tuition and support..interesting dichotomy, eh?
