Michigan woman dead for six years found only after money runs out
For six years the bills were paid, the grass was cut and no one noticed the body of the dead woman sitting in the back seat of a car in a garage of a residential Pontiac, Michigan neighborhood.
Her mummified body was finally found this week by someone dispatched to check on the property that fell into foreclosure after the money ran out of her account and the mortgage payments stopped, police said on Friday.
"It is kind of the perfect storm for a mysterious set of circumstance and a challenge because of the extreme degradation of the body," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a telephone interview.
The woman has not yet been positively identified, but it is thought she is a person who stopped working in 2008 and had set up all of her bills to be paid automatically from her bank account.
She is also thought to have worked as a contractor in the financial department for a major automobile company.
A neighbor cut her lawn, her mail was sent to the post office and there was no family living nearby, Bouchard said.

If I lived in the sticks I would sign up for everything to get as much junk mail as possible. To burn in my wood stove
They keep crap for about two weeks, then dump it in a bin as undeliverable, then dump that bin after a month, IIRC.
Yeah, we should all write checks and lick stamps and dump them in a mailbox where it could get lost by overpaid union thugs.
I swear, FR is turning into a bunch of Luddites when it comes to online transactions and banking.
We receive about a cubic foot per week without even trying to get any.
I have an old plastic milk crate that I use to accumulate my recycling and it’s at least that much every week.
Nonsense. I’m happy to pay all my bills online and have for at least a decade. I haven’t had a brick and mortar bank since 1995.
I do not, however, wish to have AUTOMATIC bill pay where just because some vendor claims I owe X therefore X is deducted from my acct. I like to screen the bills before I click ‘pay.’
Well she is one of the lucky ones
she has not had to endure the Obama dictatorship
Are you licking stamps right now?
maybe someone was skiming her dead benfits
As I noted on a previous thread on the subject, this is proof again of the old saying: "If you think nobody cares about you, just miss a couple car payments."
All that junk mail could probably be converted into dura-flame logs...just need the right equipment
She was not collecting any of the above.
Makes no sense that she was in the back seat and just so happened to have quit working at the same time. Either she committed suicide or she was murdered.
One could muse on things about their particular story. Yes, at one time they were vibrant and young. All of us must come to a final reckoning and what we find is this. That such and such person died surrounded by family and friends.
Ok, yes, this is a bit preachy but reading about this makes me determined to do what little possible. I like to listen to anybody down at the local coffee shop who seems alone and sort of find out what they have to say.
There are support groups out there if only a person can be appraised of them. Sure, some people may want it that way- to be alone.
They are few and far between. The human being is a social being. Excuse this ramble.
She had a mortgage which was auto-pay linked to a bank account. The property taxes were probably paid through an escrow account funded by the monthly payments, so the taxes (and homeowners' insurance, probably) stayed current until the bank account ran dry.
obama’s fault that her savings ran out when the economy tanked.
Apparently she had enough money saved in her account to keep her going for 6 years beyond the date she expired.
Im surprised the IRS didnt find her before anybody else.

Might’ve been an Obama voter. IRS has no interest.
I am impressed that no plumbing, heating or electrical issues arose for six years.
