SEPANG: A BOEING 777 pilot, who was flying 30 minutes ahead of the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft, said he established contact with MH370 minutes after he was asked to do so by Vietnamese air traffic control.
The captain, who asked to not be named, said his plane, which was bound for Narita, Japan, was far into Vietnamese airspace when he was asked to relay, using his plane's emergency frequency, to MH370 for the latter to establish its position, as the authorities could not contact the aircraft.
"We managed to establish contact with MH370 just after 1.30am and asked them if they have transferred into Vietnamese airspace.
"The voice on the other side could have been either Captain Zaharie (Ahmad Shah, 53,) or Fariq (Abdul Hamid, 27), but I was sure it was the co-pilot.
"There were a lot of interference... static... but I heard mumbling from the other end.
"That was the last time we heard from them, as we lost the connection," he told the New Sunday Times.

We are learning today that the door turned out to be trash and that the oil slicks were not from aviation fuel.
I was curious about the spy satellites but here according to Drudge article:
The United States extensively reviewed imagery taken by American spy satellites for evidence of a mid-air explosion, but saw none, a U.S. government source said. The source described U.S. satellite coverage of the region as thorough.
So no mid-air explosion according to satellites —
I would think that somebody would be checking out these two pilots and some of their recent activities. It might be a good idea to start with their home computers if they left them behind. Medical records should be reviewed and any friends, family and acquaintances should be interviewed.
I don’t believe there was not a submarine in the area.
well then, i think it is clear it didn’t crash in water where they’ve been looking for it so far. there’d be stuff floating from such a big plane, somewhere to be seen. explosion in midair would rain down a ton of stuff that would float and be visible on water. or else they just haven’t found it yet.
could’ve been an event to actually take the whole plane, to be used for something or for certain people on board, that semiconductor group of folks of about 20 would be a potential motive.
if that’s the case it will be learned whether they hid it or not so may as well admit it.
they’ve already got terrible inbreeding problems from 1400 years of marrying too-close relatives to preserve wealth in the families.
I was thinking of this possibility yesterday. But it doesn’t seem reasonable because in today’s post-9/11 world, any plane flying without a transponder will be shot down. The terrorists have to know this.
Your point?
That's interesting. I wonder what kind of satellites would be watching the region for sudden flares from a pinpoint source of heat? (Yes, it's a rhetorical question)
No, that's not going to happen outside a war zone. There are too many benign causes for a transponder malfunction.
A plane without a transponder will be investigated. But, it won't be shot down unless there is an unambiguous indication of a threat.
And bears sleep in the woods.
Ah yes the book Debt of Honor.
Captain Sato was the character, and he was seeking revenge for seeing his brother’s warship being blown to pieces, as well as finding out his fighter pilot son being killed in the same conflict.
FBI fears four passengers on missing Malaysian jet used stolen passports as ‘mid-air disintegration’ theory investigated.

And bears sleep in the woods.
I thought they only crapped in the woods, and they sleep at holiday inns...
Interesting, how often do airliners get stolen and sold on the black market??
IIRC- A Boeing 707 or that type was missing and presumed stolen in Africa sometime shortly after 911.
