Lawmaker hopes upcoming daylight savings will be Tennessee's last
Johnson City (TN) Press ^ | March 7, 2014 | Tony Casey

When Tennesseans spring ahead this weekend, it could be the last time they change clocks.

That is, if a bill sponsored by state Rep. Curry Todd, R-Collierville, goes through. Todd’s bill calls for the state to stay on daylight saving time all year round. As usual, people are advised to set their clocks ahead one hour as the time change goes into affect at 2 a.m. Sunday. If the bill is written into law, it would be the last time adjustments would be made and no more clock changes would occur.

USSA?

Are you 12?

I believe that you are NOT who you state you are.
I have every reason to believe you are nothing more than a paid kid trolling this site. I have no doubt you pollute other sites as well.

There is nothing logical about your comments, therefore, you are nothing more than a little boy liar.

I will gladly join in common cause to push back, at every opportunity, an EX PATRIOT whose ruling passion seems to be to deride his former homeland.

I have no problem with anyone who chooses to remove himself to wherever his heart desires. I have a big problem when that fact causes him to ascend to some imaginary lofty perch, from which he heaps scorn upon those of us who continue to stand post and fight back.

My wish is that Alex W will see the error of his ways and leave off the bad attitudes. Boasting of ones own wisdom is actually very unattractive.

I just think that you are small and mean.

If I were all that, I would insert the Butthurt form here. But, I am not; so I won't.

Al, looks like you’ve picked yourself up another fan, Don-o.

Do you ever stop to think maybe you’re doing something wrong?

The fact that Tennessee is in two time zones (the Eastern/Central line runs between Knoxville and Nashville) adds another complication, particularly for those who live near the line.

My mother told me today that when she was a girl, East Tenn was on Central time, like the rest of the state. She said they knew that North Carolina (20 some miles east) was an hour later. Now, I believe Mama, but I cannot find confirmation.

A closer reading of the link above does confirm that ALL of Tenn was on Central time in 1883.

Am I the only one who hates Daylight Savings Time? And no need to tell me to move to AZ because I was born there and lived there until I was 24.

I call it Pretend Time. I just cannot understand the whole thing. The sun will set later in the summer regardless of our clock manipulation. 8:00 isn’t late enough for you for the day to end? We have to push it to 9:00, and for what?

I have to get up at 5 am, and I can’t freaking stand that it is still light out when it is time to go to sleep. People need darkness as much as they need light. And they need it before bedtime because that’s how the sleep process works. It is just not natural to try to block out all the light in the windows to simulate nighttime.

I say again: the summer days are already longer! Why do we have to mess with them? I will never understand. I guess I have already had enough sun from growing up in Phoenix. I prefer shade, cloudy days, snow, rain, and nighttime. I just don’t understand the sun worshipers.

BTW, Nashville was named after my ancestor Brigadier General Francis Nash. I have nothing but pride for the whole state.

Ain’t nothing “PATRIOT “ IN that particular fella, brother. Nothing but a churlish, gloating, sarcastic donkey’s rear end.

Welcome to the Pound, brother Don-O.
