AUSTIN, Texas Texas is holding the nation's first primary election Tuesday with a political free-for-all in Republican races that could push the state further right, though Democrats are calling it the next big electoral battleground.
Republican Gov. Rick Perry has decided this would be his last of a record 14 years in office, and his looming exit has set off a scramble resulting in the most open races in Texas in more than a decade.
Republicans are favored to win them all come November including Perry's seat, despite Democrat Wendy Davis building a national profile and an early $16 million fundraising haul to match. She has energized Texas Democrats, who haven't won a statewide race in 20 years but insist the tide is turning....

I believe that Larry SECEDE Kilgore did change his name legally. Check out his website before it goes dead; he promised that TX would secede from the U.S. and become independent, but could not guarantee whether independence would result in more individual freedom or more tyranny. Way to sell it, Larry!
LMAO. Is the all-caps part of the legal spelling?
“SECEDE Kilgore is on the 2014 GOP ballot for Texas Governor! Kilgore’s middle name was officially changed to SECEDE Dec 10th 2012. Kilgore received 50,000 votes in 2006 and 225,000 votes in 2008 running as a secessionist.
SECEDE Kilgores vision to end DC rule of Texas: After winning the 2014 GOP primary, SECEDE will ask the current Governor to call a special session for a secession referendum to be placed on the ballot. If he refuses, then SECEDE will do it when he gets in office. Secession will occur within 100 day after inauguration or SECEDE will resign. SECEDE will not accept a leadership position in the nation of Texas, until at least one year after secession.
Some folks may want a constitution with a centralized government similar to the current US constitution; others may prefer local government similar to the US constitution of 1792. SECEDE plans to stay out of the constitutional battles so as not to hinder the progress of the coalition.
SECEDE looks forward to working with the US to negotiate a fair separation of assets and liabilities. Texas may end up more oppressive than the US or we may be a bastion of freedom. SECEDE promises neither.”
“Texas may end up more oppressive than the US or we may be a bastion of freedom. SECEDE promises neither.
One couldn’t come up with a parody who was so incompetent in arguing for Texas’s secession. I guess that SECEDE forgot to add:
“My independent Texas might be a color-blind society with respect for individual liberties, or we just may bring back slavery and impose it on Vietnamese-Americans; SECEDE promises neither.”
I understand Dan Patrick is as TP as TP can get. He’s said to be unapologetic and favors closing the border. Why vote against that ?
Wow, this SECEDE guy sounds even nuttier than his fellow secessionist gubernatorial candidate in Georgia, Ray McBerry (who thinks the most important issue on the planet is that the stars-and-bars is no longer on the Georgia flag, and apparently gets frisky with 16 year old girls when he’s not drawing up plans to reform the CSA: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/em-two-em-georgia-gov-candidates-were-accused-of-inappropriate-behavior-with-female-students )
Anyway, if Kilgore just legally changed his middle name, Texas officials should have refused to let him draw attention to himself, and just listed him on the ballot as “Larry S. Kilgore”, rather than “SECEDE Kilgore”
At least Jerry Patterson gets it right. If you want to fantasize about cutting up the United States, we’d be much better off if we could sell most of New England to Canada, and downgrade California to territorial status again:

;-)
He's personally offensive.
But since it is now between him and Dewhurst.. I'll hold my nose and vote for Patrick and his arrogant self-aggrandizing opportunistic self.
