“What, me worry?” seems to be the operating philosophy of President Obama as a serious crisis brews in Eastern Europe. Daniel Halper reports an almost unbelievable level of Obama nonchalance toward his national security responsibilities in the Weekly Standard:
A White House official emailed some reporters to say that President Obama's team met today to discuss the ongoing situation on Ukraine. It appears President Obama did not attend."The President's national security team met today to receive an update on the situation in Ukraine and discuss potential policy options. We will provide further updates later this afternoon," reads the full statement.
But:
According to Time magazine's Zeke Miller, Obama skipped the meeting. "Obama did not attend the meeting, but WH official says he has been briefed by Susan Rice and his national security team," says Miller.

On our current trajectory, which is picking up speed on the downside every day, by Jan 2017 most all of the former USSR will be back more powerful then when the enigma took over here; the middle east will be worse off too with most of the countries allied with either Russia or Iran, south america will be in an economic bloc with both China and Russia and the US will be reduced to the economic equal of Britain or Italy while deplomatically we will have the status of Portugal and a military status on a par with France.

BTW, I am not in favor of any involvement by the US in the Ukraine matter as I don’t view us as the policeman of the world. Unfortunately, before the missing link came about, we projected power and an intent to use it which kept many at bay, today that projection is gone, kind of like Europe circa 38 with Hitler reading the west as ineffective and doing whatever he wanted. Barry’s first official action with the Ruskies, the removal of our agreement to furnish the Poles and Chek Republic the defense missiles they wanted, showed Putin our el presidente was not committed to any even reasonable push back. He cut them loose from an established agreement to give Putin the green light on whatever he wanted to do. Kind of like when our ambassador to Iraq never conveyed strong disapproval of any move into Kuwait. Mass rushes in to fill a vacume.

Why the surprise that he didn’t attend the security meeting?
Listen to his statement regarding the Russian move into the Ukraine. It was about as lackluster as any he has ever given. He was reading words. He had no interest, no real concern.
He showed more passion over the Beer Summit during his first term than over the current Ukraine situation.
