Texas Delegates declared Texas Independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836 to become an independent republic. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEXAS. Celebrations in Austin, San Antonio, Washington on the Brazos and other locations this weekend.
Wonder how many people remember the Alamo on March 6?
my Alamo 1824 Flag is flying as we post and will go to 1/2 staff on the 6th.
Hubby was a founding board member of Celebrate Texas and we were in the 1st parade up Congress Ave that was restarted 2000. That was when we repainted the dune buggy like a Texas Flag.
That dune buggy saw many freeps in Austin against GoreOns and the antiwar left.
Very cool. I was watching “F Troop” reruns the other day and Duffy was going on about Jim Bowie. Cracks me up every time.
When it falls on a weekend day, we usually commemorate with come cornbread and chili. No offense meant, just our way of keeping the memory alive.
WOOHOO Texans!
When will Texas SHOUT, “I’m debt free!” (h/t Dave Ramsey)

(talk about independence day/10th amendment day)
the way things are going, we may have to declare one again...
Would that be “Deuco de Marcho”?
With today’s fog, your car probably won’t be seen a lot—LOL!
(At least my side of the lake is shrouded in a heavy fog.)
Huh? What’s that you say? I didn’t hear you.
:-)
God Bless Texas and God Bless Texans.

I am told, and just the other day in this forum, that Texas gained independence from Mexico, so all texans should speak spanish and ‘work’ to assimate Mexicans.
Independence? This is a typical attitude
It’s working just fine! :-)
Freedom, it’s part of the Texas spirit and our heritage. It remains to this day. God Bless Texas and those that share our spirit.
