Rick Perry: “I was troubled today by the tone of the president…”
Right Scoop ^ | Feb 24, 2014 at 9:47 PM

Posted on 02/25/2014 11:32:06 AM PST by Red Steel

Rick Perry admitted at the RGA today that he was very troubled by Obama’s tone today addressing the National Governors Association:

I don’t mind telling you I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president. …For the president of the United States to look Democrat and Republican governors in the eye and to say ‘I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure…’ – that is really troubling.

Perry went on to say that Obama was going to hollow out the National Guard and warned the state governors not to push back against it or they would hear from him:

Democrat Governors are very concerned, I will suggest to you, about what they heard today about the Guard. I left the United States Air Force in the mid ‘70s, in February of 1977, as our country was going through a similar period of time of reducing the force. But those men and women who had extraordinary expertise in combat were going into the Guard and into the Reserves.

I hope we’re not about to make a tragic mistake in this country by hollowing out our Guard in our states in some political statement of ‘you’re all going to feel the pain’. Because that’s certainly what I heard from the president of the United States today.

As a matter of fact [Obama] he said in that meeting “if I hear any of you pushing back, making statements about Washington spends too much money, you’ll hear from me.”

If I’m a Democrat governor, if I’m a Republican governor, I’m highly offended by that.

Yes it is our duty to defend the people of this country. But I will suggest that making a political statement about the Guard is not in the best long-term interest of this country and it’s certainly not in the best long-term interest of those men and women who have committed and often times sacrificed greatly for this country.

Gov. Perry is witnessing the desperate struggles of a cornered Communist Obama.

Impeachment ASAP is essential to reduce significant harm to Americans.

I believe the state National Guards belong to the Governors but King Barry partially/mostly funds them through the Army. So if that is true King Barry could certainly howllow them out just like the Regular miliarty.

I also believe King Barry has no direction over the state National Guards until he calls them up and puts them under National control.

Anyone verify this?

From the fount of all knowledge Wiki.....

All members of the National Guard of the United States are also members of the militia of the United States as defined by 10 U.S.C. § 311. The majority of National Guard soldiers and airmen hold a civilian job full-time while serving part-time as a National Guard member.[1][2] These part-time guardsmen are augmented by a full-time cadre of Active Guard & Reserve (AGR) personnel in both the Army National Guard and Air National Guard, plus Army Reserve Technicians in the Army National Guard and Air Reserve Technicians (ART) in the Air National Guard.

The National Guard is a joint activity of the United States Department of Defense (DoD) composed of reserve components of the United States Army and the United States Air Force: the Army National Guard of the United States[1] and the Air National Guard of the United States respectively.[1]

I didn't think so....

You really think Harry Reid will even consider an Impeachment trial in the Senate? Dream on. Besides, the Republicans doesn't have the stomach for that.

Maybe there’s a plan to politically neutralize zero that is still in planning stages.

Perry’s up to *something*. He’s a doer and loves killing (figuratively) his enemies.

Hey, Rick. It sounds like you didn’t get the message of who is boss in this country, and Texas, and every other state in the union.

And that would achieve what?

On the Internet we're so convinced that emoting is an achievement in and of itself, but in the real world, not so much.

Impeachment has NOTHING to do with the US Senate.

Impeachment is the sole responsibility of the US House of Representatives.

The House is the Cop.

The Senate is the Judge and Jury.

Impeachment is just the first step.

“No Balls” Boehner is to much of a coward to even investigate Soetoro-Obama.

Hence, the first part of the first step of Impeachment is to force Boehner to resign as Speaker of the House.

Perry has done a great job as our governor. The people on FR who think otherwise obviously can’t think beyond their one issue bias!

Excuse me? You are correct in so far that the House votes to impeach but the Senate must conduct a trial to remove an impeached President from office. Where were you back when Clinton was impeached? Impeachment without removal from office is of little consequence. It didn’t harm Clinton as I seem to recall. In fact it made him a folk hero to his party. Again Republicans have no backbone or stomach to impeach this PoS president or to remove him from our office.

You misunderstood the term “Impeachment trial”. Yes, it would be a trial to consider removing an impeached President. Sorry you were looking to nitpick.

“...The MAJORITY of Texans KNOW Rick Perry is a pretender...”

Most of the Texan commentators on this forum seem to like the gentleman.

If that’s a slice of the overall, it would appear that you’re wrong.

But hey... it’s an opinion forum. You’re entitled to yours, I respect it. I just don’t happen to agree with it.

Have a good one, friend.

Why do you suppose he’s not running for Gov again?

The people who are real conservatives (instead of the establishment GOP - the people who like Bonhner, Dole, McCain, Rove, etc) DONT LIKE PERRY.

If you want another talk tough, cave to the liberal guys (and for that matter have a bunch of liberal policies of his own), the support Perry.

I have been shocked many times by his support of liberal causes — and the “good ol’ boy” pretensions when he really is a big government RINO

Impeachment is the most severe punishment that the US House of Representatives can attach to a Rogue president.

It is a first step.

Clinton was unfazed because he was not then and is not now a Man Of Honor.

Soetoro-Obama is a true Communist that we, the voter, permit to do whatever he wants.

Don’t be a “do nothing” RINO, insist on Impeaching Soetoro-Obama!

The US Constitution requires Impeachment first.

If we do not insist on Impeaching Soetoro-Obama, then are not following our Constitution, by allowing our elected House Members to shirk their Constitutional responsibilities.

Not being from Texas myself, I didn’t know he wasn’t running.

And if he is what you say he is, then fair enough.

I do know you have the Abortion Barbie Wendy Davis running down there on the Dem side. Who is running against her, and is he a viable Conservative?

You are arguing with yourself. I sure hope you are not calling “me” a RINO. If so you are very miserably misinformed, I haven’t voted Republican since 1995. I vote independent christian conservative seeing how they represent what I believe the best. So why don’t you go off in your corner by yourself and keep arguing with yourself. BTW, you keep making my point for me if you would only read and think about what I said. Try to have a nice day in that corner.
