Rick Perry: “I was troubled today by the tone of the president…”
Right Scoop ^ | Feb 24, 2014 at 9:47 PM

Posted on 02/25/2014 11:32:06 AM PST by Red Steel

Rick Perry admitted at the RGA today that he was very troubled by Obama’s tone today addressing the National Governors Association:

I don’t mind telling you I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president. …For the president of the United States to look Democrat and Republican governors in the eye and to say ‘I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure…’ – that is really troubling.

Perry went on to say that Obama was going to hollow out the National Guard and warned the state governors not to push back against it or they would hear from him:

Democrat Governors are very concerned, I will suggest to you, about what they heard today about the Guard. I left the United States Air Force in the mid ‘70s, in February of 1977, as our country was going through a similar period of time of reducing the force. But those men and women who had extraordinary expertise in combat were going into the Guard and into the Reserves.

I hope we’re not about to make a tragic mistake in this country by hollowing out our Guard in our states in some political statement of ‘you’re all going to feel the pain’. Because that’s certainly what I heard from the president of the United States today.

As a matter of fact [Obama] he said in that meeting “if I hear any of you pushing back, making statements about Washington spends too much money, you’ll hear from me.”

If I’m a Democrat governor, if I’m a Republican governor, I’m highly offended by that.

Yes it is our duty to defend the people of this country. But I will suggest that making a political statement about the Guard is not in the best long-term interest of this country and it’s certainly not in the best long-term interest of those men and women who have committed and often times sacrificed greatly for this country.

This could very well be a prelude to Obama declaring martial law in order to install himself as a ruling dictator or some such position. If what Perry is reporting is indeed accurate I can only believe that by crippling the national guard states will be vulnerable to what the dictator wannabe may be up to. This is indeed troubling to hear.

We are indeed living in some troubling times.

Though I don’t ‘love’ my governor, I do believe him and most of what he speaks. There have been times we have disagreed, but all in all, he attempts to be on the side of ‘right’ There are better men...and there are some that are a h’ll of a lot worse. One, why he’s in the White House.

I think the NSA gave him all the info he needs. I have, and still do believe he has enough info on everyone in DC to keep them under his thumb.

The agony of it, is that so many have such bad things in their past that he has them where he wants them. They are afraid of him.

He’s not running again because he is 1) tired and 2) wants to do something else; it has nothing to do with G.A.

And I think Perry is going to do some big, important things. Godspeed, Rick.

If they come to the rural areas to cause trouble,I’d advise them to bring their own body bags.

I don’t trust Rick Perry, after his behavior in the Gaurdasil and Trans Texas Corridor debacles

If that's all You got to bitch about with Gov. Perry then He is STILL 200% better than the zero pos.

Do you live in Texas ?

Are you or A Real or Naturalized Texan?

If not then who is your Governor ?

Is He/She doing better for your State than Gov. Perry does for Texas ?

Geeze! what the h&!! do you want ?

Rush was talking about Obama’s outrageous comments today.

Rush made the point that the National Guard of each state is under the authority of each state’s governor, NOT Obama.

The National Guard can be federalized. So, normally it’s under the command of a state’s governor, but that can change. A State Guard cannot be federalized and is wholly directed by the state in which it is organized.

The answer is easy. Let the states go back to a true militia and tell DC to take a hike. It would be better all the way round. The model has and is working and it can thrive here again.

Word has it that Texas is positioning itself to greatly expand the State Guard. Obama's 'sermon' to the Governors made have put the icing on that cake.

That’s why he’s NOT running for Governor. H would NOT win again against Abott.

Maybe that's why Abbott is running, because he knows Perry isn't...and that he'd likely not have a chance against Perry.

By the way...who is your Governor?

I agree with you. Perry is not my choice for Prez but I do like him a lot. Even though he has his warts and other shortcomings like other national political figures he is still a very good and decent man and has been an excellent governor for Texas.

Democrat Governors are very concerned,

I don't care.
It's similar to the chirping of other democrats that are whining all around me now.
good job there...

Push in one area, get push back and pause. Push in another area, and begin “compromise” on the first. Always advancing.

Community organizer tactics. Agitate, agitate, agitate.

Someone call his bluff, and let’s get the party started.

Several Governors need to call his bluff simultaneously.
