President Barack Obama traveled to California on Friday to highlight the state’s drought emergency at two events near Fresno, calling for shared sacrifice to help manage the state’s worst water shortage in decades. He then spent the rest of the weekend enjoying the hospitality of some of the state’s top water hogs: desert golf courses.

Duh, Palm Springs has its own aquifers under all that dry desert on the ground surface and is not taking water away from farmers or cities.

Obama golfing through a drought is another issue.

Socal if relatively okay water wise this year. No Socal cities/counties have enacted emergency water conservation legislation....yet.

NorCal is in much worse shape.

Obama’s got no worries.

In a communist system, the commissars get all the biggest dachas, the greatest perks, and the most privileges.

Meanwhile, the peons can go f*** themselves.

It’s wasting water in that aquifer.

Rush is right. It’s been the environmentalists; not nature who have messed up and caused the water crisis in CA. Central CA or the San Joaquin Valley was and is irrigated desert. When the environmentalists divert that water; that is what is causing the problem.

If they would give up the idea that protecting a stupid little minnow (snail darter) bait fish is more important than providing water to the agri businesses and residents, the drought would not be as big a problem as it is now.

I belonged to a country club in the DFW area for 25 years; where we often have water shortages. Members kicked in extra money to drill several wells on our property and the water was put in a small holding lake with a dam. That water was passed through a treatment process where fertilizers, etc., were added and then pumped through the golf course sprinkler system.

I don’t have a problem with the desert golf courses, as long as they are attracting so many tourists to the area, along with the professional golf tournaments (PGA, LPGA and Champions) which collectively attract hundreds of thousands of people in their galleries. The pro associations generate millions of dollars for charities each year.

Be fair, The string of towns around Palm Springs (all one big town on Hwy 111, basically) would look like the rest of the arid landscape if it wasn’t for a lot of sprinklers.

I have a friend that has his second home on La Quinta, {in his words, an economy model at $4 Million} and he told me his Home Owners Association fee is several thousand a month {that includes snow removal, heheheheh}.

For that price, the players want to see green grass.
