Ukraine: Deadly clashes around parliament in Kiev
BBC News ^ | 2/18/2014

Violent clashes have erupted during anti-government protests in Ukraine's capital, Kiev, with at least nine people, including two policemen, dead.

In the worst violence in weeks, police used rubber bullets and stun grenades as thousands of protesters marching on parliament.

A deadline set by the security forces for the violence to end has passed with no immediate sign of police action.

The clashes came as MPs were due to debate changes to the constitution.

The proposals would curb the powers of President Viktor Yanukovych, but the opposition say they were blocked from submitting their draft, meaning no debate could take place.

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said she was "deeply worried" by the escalation of violence, and urged politicians to "address the root causes".

Russia blamed the upsurge in violence on "connivance by Western politicians and European structures" and their refusal to consider the "aggressive actions" of radical factions within the protest movement.

“Not really new, used to post for a year ten years ago..”

Of course, and you helped JimRob establish this site. Before that, you helped Tom Jefferson write the Declaration of Independence.

Obama and his ilk have no interest in helping Ukrainians, only in the accumulation of more power and more Serfs.

Putin seems to have interest in improving the economy and commerce in Russia while accumulating power there. He does not necessarily have any interest in helping Ukrainian people.

It IS in Russia's interest to prevent Saudi Arabian support of the EU through the Ukraine, as well as in the interest of the rest of the non Islamic world.

The Ukraine is caught in the middle with an economically corrupt government.

The best (and most difficult for Ukraine) solution would be for Ukraine to remain unaligned and neutral while repairing their own government peacefully.

I doubt this will be allowed, and believe that Obama will be the instigator of violence and a proxy war against Russia's energy strategy using Ukrainians to fight it in a civil war.

This is exactly what he tried to pull in Syria, including false flag attacks.

I recommend you do not allow Obama to battle for the Caliphate in Ukraine.

Don't worry about it. A fair number of our neo-Bolsheviks are operating under new screen names as well.

I remember Jimmy Valentine from that time. There were some pro-Russians here, Gary something and jb6, who were dubbed The Russian Wives Club :)
You got a Russian wife too?

That's one way to spin the fact that Russia (and Putin) are the proximate cause of the mess in Ukraine in the first place.

I'm sorry, Ukraine declared independence in 1991, so Putin had nothing to do with the conditions causing criminal involvement in the Ukraine government.

It is correct, however to say that Tsarist Russia and Soviet Russia had a great deal to do with it.

Obama and EU reaction has been very restrained, empty words of condemnation of the Yanukovich regime; but there’s probably more stuff happening behind the scenes.
Russians on the the other hand, VERY OPENLY are talking about invading the country. So there’s no doubt for me who is the aggressor here

I also choose to look at this conflict as continuation of Ukrainian national liberation struggle that was only partially completed in 1991 (not as establishment of a Islamic caliphate in overwhelmingly Christian country that you’re suggesting)

I’ve always possessed a deep appreciation of sluts.

What amuses me is the deeply “christian” types who cheer symbolic armies (football teams) battling while they are amused by symbolic prostitutes (cheerleaders).

They lack the self-awareness to realize what they are doing.

/did I mention I have no problem with sluts?

Please stay focused. The protestors in Ukraine are not protesting Tsarist or Soviet rule.

Tsarist and Soviet Russia have a long history of subjecting the Ukraine to Russian rule by deception, stealth and outright military violence, so I understand and empathize with Ukrainians distrust of Russia.

I do not pretend to say that the Ukraine will be where the Caliphate is formed, it will not be.

It is intended to be a wedge to prevent Russia from closing off Western Europe from Saudi group petro and natural gas energy.

Saudi money will buy the creation of the Caliphate in the Middle East unless their oil and gas are uncompetitive because of long and costly supply routes around Russian controlled Eastern Europe.

All wars are economic in nature, and you've got something that both Obama and Putin want.

I KNOW Obama will sell you out and stab you in the back, and the American media will tell the world it never happened.

I also believe you know Putin and Russia better than I do, which is not a lot.

It's up to you, may the productive Ukrainians prosper in liberty.

I’ve been watching the fox live feed on my phone and looks the same. Protestors on one side and police on the other divided by bonfires. Is this live? I thought the police were storming the area?

This one might sting our Russophiles:

Asst. Secretary of State Apologizes for ‘F*** the EU’ Remark in Leaked Phone Call.

And I wouldn't fall for that Saudi/Islamo schtick either.

All considered, however, the Russians have much greater ability, reason, and will, to subjugate the Ukrainians and keep them subjugated, than does the EU.

The EU could not subjugate and hold Rhode Island if it were made independent and moved to the French-German border...
