Orr: So, better late than never, right?
In my mid-season assessment last week, I called True Detective the best show on TV. Now we can spend the final four episodes discussing whether the show is able to live up to that high appraisal. (I know that you, Spencer, already have your doubts.)
The first three episodes of the series were very much of a piece in terms of pace and mood, before the fourth episode (and particularly its latter half) broke from formula with the biker bar scene and stash-house raid. At the time, I was wondering whether wed return to the original formula or head somewhere new altogether.

It seems pretty likely that Cohles gone rogue to pursue an investigation against what he believes to be a powerful cabal with law-enforcement ties, hence his disappointment that his interrogators seem, at best, ignorant pawns in a larger scheme...
Great series. Enjoy the twists & turns.
Spending a little too much time in fantasy land boys??????????? Way too much .The Atlantic???????????? Fish wrap.
Apologies to my friend Nick Searcy on Justified, but by far this is the best show on TV and so far it is of “Breaking Bad” quality.
So what are you saying? Should we give up Sherlock Holmes, Raymond Chandler, and Mickey Spillane. Detective literature is enjoyable. And just because the article was in the Atlantic, that automatically disqualifies the discussion from consideration?
My husband just discovered this show and he’s loving it.
If he has the same tastes, have a look at “House of Cards”, Kevin Spacey is great & you may need Netflix to watch it. Season 2 was released on Friday & we had a marathon over the wkend watching it!
Don’t have Netflix but we plan to buy season one. My sons have highly recommended it.
See above. You don’t need Netflix to watch “House of Cards.”
Did you notice how she called the military sexual harassment bill "her bill," even though she was not elected to anything?
Spectacular show - dark and cerebral - a welcomed program to fill the void left by Breaking Bad.
Agreed. Woody and Matthew are a great team! Hooked on that show.
Shows how well I keep up with popular culture. When I saw “True Detective”, the only thing that came to mind was a cheesy magazine I remember seeing in the magazine section at the drug store in the 1950s.
Agree! Frank Underwood (cuff links F.U.) is showing to GOP how bad DEMs can be once in power? Timely, considering who is in the WH today!
Up until that point you couldn't be sure if the initials were purposely chosen.

I'm sure that's where the title comes from. It works though.
Me too!! Considering how crafty he is.. why not! LOL
If you watch House of Cards, To Play the King, and The Final Cut, the original British versions of American show, and all available on Youtube, his underlings refer to Francis as F.U. often.
While the British version is not as dark, (it was produced about 20 years ago) it is still a well written and performed drama. You grow to love and hate the original Francis just as much as Spacey.
