The son-in-law of the elderly couple killed this week in a package bomb explosion at their Tennessee home has been charged in the case, authorities said Thursday evening.
A grand jury returned indictments of felony first-degree murder and felony first-degree premeditated murder against Richard Parker, 49, police said at a press conference. Authorities would not elaborate on how they came to identify him as the suspect, and said he was arrested at his home on Thursday.

Hopefully Tennessee has the death penalty and it's applied to this turkey if convicted.

I yearn for the days of party lines, when TV went off the air at 5:00pm. I’m not a Luddite...but damn close.

Sccuuuzzzee Me.
I’m in my ‘60s. Don’t EVER remember TV going off the air at 5PM.
And we were the first on the block to HAVE a TV. Mennonites all trooped over to the house at 6 pm to watch the NEWS.
Stations signed off at 11 or 12 pm.

An earlier item, reporting that Marion Setzer had died, suggested that it might have been related to Jon Setzer’s legal work. But no ... family. Very sad situation.

I think I will wait until there is some sign of actual evidence furthur than law enforcement being desperate to claim they have a suspect.
Declining to reveal why he was the person charged is upon occasion because they can’t come up with a reason that can’t be disproved. The admission raises red flags.
Does the name “Richard Jewel” ring a bell?

Gorush,
Give you that.
I was in PA. Different set of circumstances.
In those days, ND and Minn. were REALLY conservative.
But 17:00? I guess they were conserving electricity, or they thought NO ONE HAD A TV TO WATCH!!
LOL, that was most likely the case.

Oh Jeez, I remember party lines too.
You could NEVER get a word in edgewise unless you picked up the phone and pleaded for the gossips to give you a few minutes to make a call.
And then you KNEW they were all listening in.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big Ike fan...he seriously mistreated Joe McCarthy for whom I have MUCH more affinity.

Yep, I remember and Jewel was never charged but you’d never know that by the pounding he got.

I had a feeling that it was a family member. I’ll bet that he got tired of waiting for them to die to get at their money and property.

Yea, a death row inmate is more likely to die of old age than to be put to death with the way the law allows them to seek appeal after appeal after appeal.

I think that the law prohibits a convict from benefiting monetarily from your crimes.
