Lets kick the can down the road to the late 2000’s. Well the can has hit a huge wall and all of the sudden it’s my fault. BTW, the “folks” making these rules were not Boomers, but the beloved Greatest Generation.

I'll concede you may have a point there.

Still, the economy of 80's and 90's and to some extent the recovery after 9/11, will probably never come again, at least in our lifetimes.

If what we have now is the best we can expect after such a boom, what can we expect after years of reduced economic activity?

“This has been a problem before. Look at the fall of the Roman Empire, for example. “

Something similar happened in Russia post W.W.II. But first Stalin cased the great starvation of the 1930s

Absolutely dead on. You sure drew a crowd of people here that don’t want to look at the big picture, as clear as it is. The politicians have made things a lot worse , maybe the implosion would not have occurred without their policies, but it has become so expensive to raise kids that it’s just not the popular thing to do any more.

The "Greatest Generation" is also the one that took more out of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. than they ever paid in because they lived longer than projected thanks to advances in medicine. Not blaming them for it. The numbers are what they are.

Those numbers also mean that the Baby Boomers who are starting to retire will not get the same government benefits that their parents enjoyed. Not enough people in the workplace to pay for it.

Yeah and cater said “our best days are behind us”. Get a supply side Capitalist and Congress in place and cut cut cut and grow grow grow and pay down the debt. If that does not happen... there will be no more America.

I forget how much money is currently in 401k and IRAs....several trillion at least.
That money is about to be spent back into the economy by the retiring Boomers.
Unfortunately it also means that the money that currently supports stock prices and Treasurys will be spent back into the economy. ';^)

That's right! Game Over. And the very very top of the pyramid people run off to private islands surrounded by bodyguards.

Yep, already happening. There's a reason people (the wealthy) are renouncing their US citizenship. Avoid taxes, a possible economic collapse and the destruction of wealth. So they move to some tropical location with their mattress money and private bank accounts and ride out the storm. The disgusting part is that most of these people were likely ardent Obama cheerleaders and enthusiastically voted for him.

Actually, what they meant was

“we need less American (white/Christian/conservative) children”

I need to clarify that one since it may be construed that I meant the only Americans were white Christian conservatives.

The base point is that the left hates Christian values, and they hate the traditional AMERICAN CULTURE on which it is based. The whole hatin’ on YT thing is just a proxy for that.

Probably the most attractive, best and least expensive way to deal with a surfeit of Baby Boomers, is to outsource their retirement to Mexico.

Already many retirees are doing this on their own, and very comfortable and affordable housing areas are being built, gated communities away from the drug violence. Some have top ratings from organizations like AARP.

Often they are within resort communities on the western coast, so are well policed and orderly. The Mexicans there perform the support functions, cooking, cleaning, medical care, etc.

Importantly, it is oriented to the middle class retirees, who if they leave the American system, free up enough resources to take care of poor retirees, with better quality care for them than what they currently get, back in the US.

Added up, big money savings, better quality care for all involved, less drain on the US economy.

Probably very true for the most part...

HOWEVER,

For every 10 people we send ‘down there’ to boost their economy and ease the drain here,

THEY

Send 1000 ‘up here’ to be a drain on the economy and services.

Not so much anymore. As some good news, the peak of illegal immigration is probably over.

It was caused by both a high birthrate, and Vincente Fox’s Plan Puebla Panama, the idea to turn southern Mexico into a hemispheric transportation hub, which required that a lot of southern Mexicans had to be displaced, told to head North across the border.

However, there is a demographic principle that when a country reaches an economic plateau unique to it, suddenly its birthrate drops from rapid increase to maintenance. And this has happened to Mexico, whose birthrate is now 2.2 children per family average.

This means that Mexico is no longer producing the overflow that supports mass migration.

However, the depopulation part of the PPP is over, so if they haven’t crossed into the US by now, they probably won’t.

So, if we do nothing, the problem will taper off to no longer being a problem. If we do most anything, it will likely really shut off the flow.

I am aware that immigratiom from México has largely stopped, but that doesn’t solvente the problem by itself. Others will come. Right now Arabic is the top laguage for immigrants.

I apologize for seemingly profiling.
I should have been more specific and pointed out the steady flow coming FROM Mexico, which I realize is not entirely Mexicans - and hasn’t been.....

Just so much ‘easier’ to broad brush - no matter what the though process really was....<: <: <:

Yes, Mexican repats are becoming more common.

Won’t be long before ‘Our Glorious Leaders’ figure some way to stem that tide..

Of course if we could get our ‘checks’ sent to a US bank and (sort of) reside elsewhere, financing yourself off your Credit or Debit Card etc etc etc....

Possibly.

I think the real trouble, though, is actually at the state and local/county level at this point. Detroit is a good example and New York will be the next example of local government overreach and excessive taxation.

Well then some states will pull out and continue with America as intended. We must do what we must do.
