Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham battled the rest of the Fox News Sunday panel over immigration, arguing that immigration reform and current enforcement of immigration laws were weakening the American workforce, even as her fellow panelists countered that reform would bolster the economy.
I think what were seeing here is a split inside the Republican Party between two staunch conservatives, host Chris Wallace said, going on to ply Ingraham with a Wall Street Journal editorial that called flinching on reform de facto amnesty.
As far as I can tell, the Wall Street Journal is on the side of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, Pat Leahy and La Raza, Ingraham said. I think they should put down their dogeared copy of Fountainhead and live in the real world Do we care about American workers at all?
Youre the one whos arguing the AFL-CIO argument, Will said, noting that the economic dynamism aided by immigrants would help sustain the American workforce.
So why have a border at all? Ingraham said. There is no will to enforce the border. There is no faith in this administration to do it. The Republican elites and the Democratic elites agree, and the people are revolting across this country.
Wallace and Juan Williams then challenged Ingraham with the fact that deportations under the Obama administration were at record highs; she countered that Obamas executive order to defer action against undocumented young people in the summer of 2012 belied this argument.

Of course we do, send them home and they won't be illegal anymore.
They also count the one individual being sent back multiple times as *several* people being sent back. Makes you think, for example, that 100 people have been dealt with; - when in truth, only 20 to 25 people have actually been dealt with by the feds.
I had to mute moron Juan. Laura Ingram looks great for someone who had to stave off cancer about 4 years ago. She looked better than before all that that.....
And was making very good arguments
Just about all of the claimed deportations are Mexicans arrested at the border and swiftly returned to Mexico by bus after a quickie court proceeding. They probably will try again and if arrested again will be another "deportation" for Obama's phony statistics
You are correct, Very few real deportations from the interior, from Cleveland, or Iowa or NYC. Perhaps if you are a nasty illegal alien criminal and get caught
bttt
Laura Ingraham has been all over the place on so many issues. She has bashed so many people I admire, Sarah Palin tops the list
I really could care less what she says anymore
In case that came out wrong, I love Sarah Palin!!!
Ingraham has bashed her, but also has been wishy washy, speaking of Ingraham, on many issues
At least the fight was even: 4 against 1.
George Will is nuts. His argument is our bloated welfare state needs amnesty.
Why not reply that we want to move unemployed minorities, like the devastated black community, from welfare to work?
BOR is correct. I want immigration reform. Let’s fix legal immigration. Why are be biased in favor of Mexico over all the other people in the world who want to emigrate to America?
Should Mexicans get special treatment just because they share a border with us?
Yep, where is George Will on the “growth argument” when it comes to abortion?
Rand Paul uses the catch word "immigrants" when talking about illegal criminal invaders and very seldom even uses the phrase "undocumented immigrants"
I've never seen anything he has said that idendifies them as what they are, criminal insurgent invaders who should go back to their own countries and apply for citizenship from there if they want to become Americans.
Most of them it seems don't care one way or another if they become citizens, they just want the benefits and the jobs that they take away from citizens.
And Paul looks like he is willing to give them what they want.
Actions talk, speculations walk.
We have millions of American citizens who can't even find a job....
..we are not in a position to keep the millions of illegals here or invite more.
It is WRONG!
You’re confusing several things.
1. The inability to get a job is a government created problem. Scarcity is the steady state of nature. Shortfalls that persist are always caused by government action. The story behind the jobs picture is all government sponsored.
2. Legal immigration is lengthy and difficult. It does need reform. We shouldn’t make legal immigrants work harder to become citizens than we do illegal immigrants. The current legal immigration system is flawed. We need and should want new immigrants. What we don’t want are welfare mooches and crony capitalists.
3. Illegal immigrants are mainly Mexican. If you were to simply reform welfare systems and punish “sanctuary” cities by withdrawing federal funds for these abuses, most would self-select to go home.
Conservatives won’t win the above without significant broad support and there won’t be any meaningful or beneficial reform with Obama and the Democrats holding power.
The first wife found that out too!
He did make those remarks, but nice try.
People forget that Romney ran against Perry, Gingrich, Santorum and Ron Paul.
They all lied when they said they were going to fix the illegal immigration problem.
Perry signed a bill and Romney vetoed a bill.
Wholeheartedly agree, not to mention 1 to 2 million drug gangsters.
