Metallica - Trapped Under Ice
I don't know how to live trough this hell Woken up, I'm still locked in this shell Frozen soul, frozen down to the core Break the ice, I can't take anymore
Freezing Can't move at all Screaming Can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice
Crystallized, as I lay here and rest Eyes of glass stare directly at death From deep sleep I have broken away No one knows, no one hears what I say
Freezing Can't move at all Screaming Can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice
Scream from my soul Fate, mystified Hell, forever more No release from my cryonic state What is this? I've been stricken by fate Wrapped up tight, cannot move, can't break free Hand of doom has a tight grip on me
Freezing Can't move at all Screaming Can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
I was following the, I was following the, I was following the, I was following the, I was following the, I was following the, I was following the, I was following the, I was following the pack, All swallowed in their coats With scarves of red tied 'round their throats To keep their little heads From fallin' in the snow And I turned 'round and there you go. And Michael you would fall, And turn the white snow Red as strawberries in the summertime.
I was following the pack, All swallowed in their coats With scarves of red tied 'round their throats To keep their little heads From fallin' in the snow And I turned 'round and there you go. And Michael you would fall, And turn the white snow Red as strawberries in the summertime.
I was following the pack, All swallowed in their coats With scarves of red tied 'round their throats To keep their little heads From fallin' in the snow And I turned 'round and there you go. And Micheal you would fall, And turn the white snow Red as strawberries in the summertime....

From
Winterreise.
Gute Nacht
Peter Schreier singing. The change from D minor to D Major at 4:50 just breaks your heart.

Since you seem to be in Alaska, how about a song called Alaska?
U.K. - Alaska/Time To Kill
U.K. was Allan Holdsworth (guitar), Bill Bruford (drums & percussion), Eddie Jobson (keyboard and violin), and John Wetton (bass & vocals). This lineup only released one album.

I can always count on your liedership! :-)
To: The Mayor
Good evening, Mayor...thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
Hope your snow has stopped.
We just got a blizzard warning...only a couple inches of snow, but blowing. It is just starting to snow here at my office, but only dusting so far.

My recording of Winterreise is sung by Fischer-Dieskau! I also have Mahler’s Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen with DF-D! I’m at a loss for words to describe that man’s voice...smoothest I’ve ever heard; and he makes it sound almost effortless...

From
Winterreise.
Der Lindenbaum
Sung by Fischer-Dieskau. Schubert composes an instant folk song. Catch the piano imitating the sound of far away horns in the introduction.

Fischer-Dieskau is awesome. A modern day rival would be Bryn Terfel. Terfel has a more resonant lower range, but still that silky smooth quality so admired in F-D.
But, IMO, the man who truly had the voice of an angel was Fritz Wunderlich. He is my favorite male singer of the 20th century.
