MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell recalled on Monday some of the most impactful State of the Union addresses in the recent past, focusing primarily on George W. Bushs post-9/11 speech in which he called North Korea, Iraq, and Iran members of an Axis of Evil. Mitchell ripped into Bush and former Secretary of State Colin Powell for approving that remark which alienated Iran, a country she said had been more or less an American ally. Washington Post reporter Chris Cillizza said that the Axis of Evil address was among the most important State of the Union addresses delivered in recent memory. That
It is not too late for you to try to educate them...
Andrea is right in ways she would like to forget. Iran was More of an ally before Jimmie Carter, and Less of an ally after him. They became downright respectful as soon as Ronald Reagan was sworn in as President.
yes I know
“Of course, to liberals, history doesnt exist.” It sometimes seems that to them history began and ended with “Civil Rights marches.”
Maybe Obama will announce tonight that he will be creating a cabinet level Office of Economic Opportunity. Oh, wait. Lets see, OEO. Nixon already did that. It didn’t turn out so well as I remember it.
More? or Less?
since I get a choice, I pick LESS.
I wouldn’t go nearly so far as calling Iran an ally but they were cooperating with us against our common Taliban foe. And I think that a strong case can be made that they have caused much less damage to the US than our so-called allies, Bush’s friends the Saudis. The axis of evil reference to Iran by Bush was one of the worst of his foreign policy blunders.
Actually, we supported Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war. We knew Hussein was no angel, but we deemed (correctly at the time) that Iran was a bigger evil. Think of WWII when we allied with Stalin against Hitler. Almost immediately after the war, we became enemies with the Soviet Union.
Uh, I guess she conveniently forgot the Carter years, not to mention we haven’t had a diplomatic relationship with Iran ever since them. Never heard of an “ally” with no exchange of ambassadors.
Either she’s an idiot or she thinks we are idiots or both.
It sounds as though Alzheimer’s is setting in.
No, she is that stupid.
Wow, being a lying RAT really makes you stupid.
Bet she didn’t think they were an ally when she and her pals were trying to get Reagan’s head on a plate over Iran-Contra.
Iran has been the chief sponsor of terrorism the world over since 1979. Bush was spot on in his assessment of Iran.
She can say anything she wants. It’s MSNBC. Their viewers are the very essence of LIVs
Mmmmm K.
Iran supported Hizzbolah and many other terrorists and continues to.
Iran has been pursuing nuclear before Bush.
Iran continues to call for and claims it will act on claims to endure Zion nation.
Iran was always at odds with the US and we supported Saddam in his conflict with the Mullahs.
Sure, we offed him and his Satanic spawn but, they were ungrateful and mouthy.
They got the bitch slap they needed.
Iran has been at odds with the world since WW1 and particularly so during and after WWII when they were woo’d by Hitler and fell head over heels for him.
They changed the name of their country from Persia to ensure solidarityas Aryans
Iran marched innocent people off to gas chambers and would do so again given the opportunity.
Iran continues to seek the bomb so they can be free from the yoke and authority of the USA and act out their aggression and desire to dominate the middle east.
FK em.
Not within the USA. There were not any Iranians or Shiites flying those planes on 9-11.
She’s partially right - just has her timeline off by a few years and presidents. They were fairly benign until our second worse president helped depose the Shah - the new leadership immediately started referring to us as the Great Satan...
She is either a moron or a LIAR - Maybe both!
Our alleged "ally" Saudi Arabia is a far bigger sponsor of jihad and Islamist movements around the world than Iran has ever been or will ever be.
