‘To Those Who Would Call Me a Thug or Worse …’

I show passion on the football field—but that’s only a small part of who I am. If you want to judge me, I can handle it.

What a night, and what a finish.

Near midnight I still had about 70 unread text messages from friends and family, most of which read, “Best interview ever!” Many of my Twitter mentions were less supportive. My body ached. I was thrilled and proud and upset, all at once.

Here’s what happened …

Probably, his 4.0 from Stanford has something to do with it. Also, when he’s not all full of adrenalin with an open mic in his face, he’s very well spoken, articulate and to quote Old Joe Biden, Richard is clean.

Actually, I told the wife last night after watching the local station’s locker room post game show, I was truly surprised at the depth of intellect all the players interviewed exhibited. They are very impressive young men.

Wish he would have pulled that stunt on a circa 1968 Dick Butkus.

Like these 70s era players George Atkinson and Jack Tatum known as ‘the Hitman’ and ‘the Assassin’. Those two also wanted to be known that they owned the middle of the field...that they’ve been there and they will be again.

Really?
I think we would probably be the best of buds when it comes to things that really matter.

In defense of Richard Sherman, you should really look into the type of person he really is (99.9% of the time, anyway!).

Well that I agree with.

And I really dislike women interviewers.

"The NFL is full of punks. I don’t follow it nearly as much as I used to." That's why I watch more and more college ball, and less and less NFL. It's pretty sad when the college players show more maturity than the NFL players ---not that there aren't problems there, but they have the excuse of being kids, and generally, they are more respectful while amped up.

Too bad the NFL and networks censor all the ‘talk’ from their parabolic mics located on the sidelines, or the girls would get an earful. ;-)

Richard Sherman? That name... is familiar!

Yes, there was a Richard Sherman in the 1955 film Seven Year Itch... with Marilyn Monroe, wasn't there?

And a Seahawk football player... also named Richard Sherman?

Gadzooks, that could cause a lot of confusion.. couldn't it?

"I'm the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree... that's the result you're going to get. Don't you ever talk about me. Don't you open your mouth about the best, or I'll shut it for you real quick!"

"You know why, because now I'm going to kiss you... very quick and very hard."

Yeah, those two Richard Shermans are like two peas in the same pod... and could cause a lot of confusion!

As the saying goes: You only get one chance to make a first impression. For us who didn’t know him from Adam before Sunday, he made a bad first impression.

I thought he was gonna grab Erin Andrews and plant one. Hahaha. He had a perfect excuse to at least hug her, blame it on "being emotional".

Anyway, Sherman didn't say or do anything that half the fans in that stadium wouldn't have done or said. Classy? No. But not such a big deal.

I’ll go with your gut, then, since I would prefer to believe it, that he is an upright guy. But I still believe he is encumbered by arrested development. Perhaps that’s a thing best counted as caused by where he grew up. or maybe I’m prejudiced against trash talkin’. It will interesting to see how he handles winning or losing in the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately his rant did not help his team. Fairly or not he made it about him. You can be sure the media will be leading with stories about him.

LOL the next game is going to be played in the Great Swamp of New Jersey, and in the beginning of January.

If the Farmers Almanac is correct,(and it has been pretty accurate) this year, they are in for a snowy, froze swamp land.

Peyton is a soft DADDY’S boy. In all his college and pro days he has only been able to bring home the bacon once.

I can honestly say I do not remember the last one I watched. I usually replenish the eats and drinks at half-time, and sometimes check the Net for feed back from cousins also watching in some distant locale. perhaps it’s a function of age, but I seldom watch an entire football game anymore. I find things to do during the game but have it on for background ‘skittling’. ... I did watch every stinking minute of the Iron Bowl, however. Saban needs to be fired for trying a last second field goal from beyond his kicker’s range, and having not enough foresight to know his slowpoke blockers weren’t a match for a run back by the mud eagles.
