Pope Francis is selling his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The pope, known for riding through Buenos Aires on a bus and taking to the streets of Rome in a modest Ford Focus, plans to see the chopper auctioned off next month with the proceeds going to charity, according to the auction house.

He was given a leather jacket and two motorcycles last summer by Harley, and he's selling them all to give to a hostel near the Termini train station, kind of a nice story. Here's the coverage from last summer's Harley rally in Rome, which looks like fun:

It’s called the “Harley Owners Group” (or HOG) because so many owners aren’t riders. I worked with several guys who rode all the time but there was that one who owns one but hasn’t ridden it for years. He was the only “Harley snob” of the bunch.
