Maui County police says the late state health director Loretta Fuddy died due to cardiac arrhythmia as a result of stress after a Makani Kai Air plane crashed off of Molokai last month.
An arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat.
Fuddy's death has been ruled as accidental.
On Dec. 11, the plane lost power off of Kalaupapa. Nine people were on board the plane including Fuddy. The pilot and seven other passengers survived the crash.
The pilot and a passenger who swam to shore have said Fuddy appeared fine while bobbing in the water after everyone exited the plane and waited for help to arrive.
Fuddy's brother, Lewis Fuddy, says she was healthy and didn't have any known heart problems.

If the tower acknowledged the mayday call by law they have to immediately call emergency services. I would think the personnel would have stayed until the situation was resolved.
The more you dig into this story the stranger it gets.
I was taught not to speak ill of the dead so that's all I have to say.
Huh? How???
Have had both. Must be at the top of the lists.
Which adds a great deal of stress to a person and could lead to another person in the know having yet another fatal heart attack. /s
Probably a butt pull.
Nor will it be the last time.
An “O”bituary watch is needed! /s
why thank you :)
One would hope that family would trump “the One” but Hawaii is a different bird. I have a relative that lives there.
I hope that the family is satisfied with the “report” and if not, ask the questions that their deceased loved one deserves to have answered.
This is Hawaii. The family will accept the states dictate and like it ... or else suffer the consequences from the fascist oligarchs.
He is. His daily schedule is a joke. Either golfing, ESPN, vacay, or Reggie time.
I can’t imagine two rescue swimmers not being able to quickly triage a group of 9 people. As I understand it they were all on the beach when the CG arrived. ‘Just tired’ isn’t cause for a massive effort.
That could be very likely.
Sadly it won’t be. Seems to be the norm with this Administration. Every time they open their collective mouths.
Perhaps Nielson could hook up a TV survey to the First Family TV. We could find out what “news” Barry watches. My guess, is the closest one there is to genuflecting, MSNBC. They get most of the WH invites for the “deep briefing”.
some are deadly immediately, others can go for a long time.
Show me a USCG document dated before Dec 11, 2013 that says that. I’ve already shown one that says it is the official protocol and says that swimmers are not allowed to judge a person as already dead unless the victim is charred, missing critical body parts, or stiff as a board. There were 6 planes and (supposedly) 8 victims to get out of the water.
The autopsy report noted that his wife said he had been diagnosed with heart problems. The coroner on the morning after Breitbart’s death, after looking at Breitbart’s medical records, said that he hadn’t seen a doctor within the past year. I don’t know of any doctor who would diagnose a heart problem and not schedule an appointment for follow-up afterwards - or any person who would be admitted to the ER, be found to have heart problems, and then go a year without following up.
But this is a side issue. My point is that sometimes stories change over time - especially when the families of assassination victims are involved. And especially when those families still have children at home.
I’ve shown the official document to prove you wrong and you’ve done nothing but say the same opposite thing over and over without offering one iota of documentation for what you’ve said. If what you’ve said is true - if those are the protocols that the swimmers abide by - it shouldn’t be hard to find some documents saying that. Go for it. Show me what ya got. But don’t waste all our time just spouting the same undocumented stuff over and over again.
And actually, there was a woman with shoulder-length brown hair who was closer to shore than either Puentes OR Holstein, if Holstein took 1 1/2 hours to get to shore. She is seen in the distance when Puentes took his selfie. I’ve got the close-up posted on my blog, at http://butterdezillion.wordpress.com/2014/01/14/some-images/
Who was she? She was wearing a life vest with her face toward the camera but too far away for the facial features to be caught, except the contour of her eyebrow, apparently. Is she the mystery woman in the water on the wing close to Rosa Key, and just put her hair down? Is she somebody different? How many mystery women were there, whose involvement was hidden by the official folks (Coast Guard and NTSB) and the Makani Kai folks (pilot and owner)? Why are the company, the Coast Guard, and Makani Kai working together to hide the existence of this woman who WAS on the flight?
If that is the mystery woman we found out about a couple days ago, why was she able to get so close to shore so quickly before either of the guys? There was somebody on shore trying to help Puentes get to a place where he could reach the shore more easily. Might that person have been making sure Puentes DIDN’T reach the shore, like this mystery woman that nobody wants us to know about was able to do?
Way too many questions regarding what really happened and why these sources are lying to us, as can be seen through Puentes’ photos.
