Claiming his place as the 109th mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio delivered an inaugural address on Wednesday that focused on the issue of inequality, promising that the attention he gave to the subject when he was running for office was not merely campaign rhetoric.
Outside City Hall, in front of an audience that included members of his family, luminaries like Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton and hundreds of ordinary New Yorkers, Mayor de Blasio spoke of the citys history of embracing liberal causes, and he laid out a mayoralty that emphasized social and economic justice.
We are called to put an end to economic and social inequalities that threaten to unravel the city we love, he said. And so today, we commit to a new progressive direction in New York. And that same progressive impulse has written our citys history. Its in our DNA.

NYC is on a pretty solid footing right now thank’s to Guliani and Bloomberg. That may take a while to undo, even if one tries real hard. If NYC is something less than a total disaster in 6 years, look for DeBlasio to run for POTUS. Assuming Hillary loses, of course.

they probably didnt show up because you know, the other guy was probably just as bad, or maybe he was Mormon, or maybe he wasnt really hard core conservative or maybe he was a rino...you know all the important reasons NOT to vote......

Thanks for the good chuckle,cherry.

That's because De Blasio's opponent had all the charm of nail clippings and met with the shakedown artists like Sharpton. Lhota had none of Rudy's charisma.
It's tragic enough that we are being subjected by this sort insidious left-wing, liberal creep from the Federal Government, and now having it erupt from another highly influential, fundamental vantage point is no time for any American to be getting out the popcorn.
New York City's influence goes far and wide across the nation as a social laboratory of sorts, where many of the programs, services it initiates serves as incubator for other cities to implement, emulate.
Certainly not anything I would consider fun to watch.
This guy is as RED as they come, its ludicrous that the CPUSA now has control of the NYC Mayors office.
Well, the consequences of this will be a populace education program of itself.
OTOH, the demise of NY will be harder to sweep under the rug than Detroit.
Kwanzaa is seemingly on a fading trajectory.
They need a new PR firm, some high profile lobbyists, get Congress to pass a law or two, crank up FaceBook and Twitter, maybe hire Malaria and Sharia Obama for some YouTube shoutouts.
This is great! If a Commie Democrat says $500,000 a year, what they mean is $65,000.
Completle meltdown on the way.
Pre k is earlier than usual reprograming. His record is skipping on pre k have not heard anything else except stop and frisk being unfair to young black men and this will change, which means more murder and mayhem for NY
Oh yeah. The middle class in NYC is toast. Just toast.
RE: Yeah! Yeah! $20/living wage!
I’m more compassionate.... I say $30 living wage (I got lots of numbers).
We're circling the drain, our civil society is a memory that will never be re instituted at the ballot box. I view the Cloward/Priven strategy as a conservatives best hope at this point...and the sooner it comes, the better. It is a good time to be old and I want to go out removing as many of our enemies as I can. But I could be wrong...
I would have thought NYC already would have had universal pre-K. People there will be so happy when they get it though, but they still lack knowledge.
Make the horses stop working because it is hard, and working conditions are cruel.
Next they will need to provide govt. feed and care for them.
New York / Progressivism in a nutshell.
Im more compassionate.... I say $30 living wage (I got lots of numbers).
I'll see your $30 and raise you to $40!
It does seem like the NYC average IQ is on a sharp slope downward and faster than ever.
It shall be very interesting to see what Comrade Bill does to New York City and how the bourgeois respond. Maybe he’ll place them under house arrest so they can’t leave.
It’s propagandized taxpayer paid babysitting.
That’s all.
Yes, he wants to stop abusing animals but open more abortion facilities in “underserved” areas.
