Connecticut residents waited in long lines on Thursday to register their firearms and high-capacity magazines before the state’s new gun laws go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.
WFSB-TV reports that a “long-line of people” stood outside the Public Safety Building in Middletown, Conn., all day to register semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines. Several residents were upset with the “unconstitutional” requirement, while at least one person didn’t appear to mind.
“I understand why they’re doing it, but I don’t think it’s constitutional,” resident Scott Boccio told WFSB-TV as he was registering his guns.
Charles Gillette, who was registering magazines, told the news station that he would have a problem with it if the state was trying to ban the magazines or firearms, but said “if they want to just know where they are, that’s fine with me.”
However, not one gun owner who was registering firearms or magazines said they think the new laws will reduce gun violence.
“If people are going to do things illegally, they’re not going to be here registering their gun,” Jared Krajewski, another resident registering firearms, said.
For now, in Connecticut, the law is the law. The new gun control measures were put into place following the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
State police Lt. Paul Vance said that gun owners must fill our forms completely and some may require a notary.
“This is a very bad thing, and it will lead to much worse things. This is a good time to pray.”

Thanks for the historical insight. I know almost all questions are easily googled and such, but sometimes I ask such questions to see not only the answer but the interpretation from fellow conservatives and Freepers.

It seems to me that a good way to protest this would just be to stand in line and *not* register, just to make the line longer and the crowd angrier.
May his door be the first kicked down in the confiscation raids sure to follow the registration.

It's a class D felony if you don't register your "assault style" weapon or your +10 round magazines. Up to 5 years in prison and most of your estate.

Just as a fun exercise let’s compare Connecticut now to the “Tower of Babble”. With enough low info voters all complying with the new rules, speaking the same languidge so to speak, maybe even in-breeding, how long can it be before God realizes they are not worth saving and brings a large hammer down? If they all speak Liberal Yankee you know that can’t work for long? And that whole thing about everybody waiting in a long line to do something stupid has to have God wondering about the whole idea of giving man free will? Could be that’s why he seems to be lighting a fire under Yellowstone Park now-—it’s a ways away from Conn. but a big blow could go downwind and fix the place once and for all. Note to you folks in Conn.: I won’t be counting on you for any kind of help to the country now.
