The Robertson family released a statement Thursday night in response to the A&E network's decision to suspend patriarch Phil Robertson over comments the family patriarch made to GQ Magazine on homosexuality:
"We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil's unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" and "Love your neighbor as yourself." Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family."

I'm not a duck hunter, either, but a daughter gave me a duck call as a gag gift. I blow it whenever my team scores a touchdown. I have no idea how I got by before I got it.
Unless you are a bakery owner or photographer or. . .
GOOD! Damn the nazis and their ways.
Ironically, my very liberal son introduced me to this program. He also got his grandmother to be a fan. This should make for interesting table talk at Christmas.
A conservative, patriotic Christian....
Even more-so if you're a caucasian male of the hetero variety.
Glad to hear that.
Actually my preference would be for them to quite A&E and keep doing a similar show somewhere else. I know the family doesn't need the money or fame but it would be good to not have it said that the gay lobby destroyed the best cable show on TV. I would rather they fight back and prevail. I do hope they leave A&E.
It’s 26 minutes long. Are there three or four really good parts? Give me the minute mark. I got to go to sleep soon.
I’ll watch the whole thing tomorrow.
It’s sad what our society has become. Some vile harridan on Hannity basically said what she deems “hate speech” should be chilled.
The Outdoor channel
Along with Sarah Palin
NOT Glenn Beck, he just wants more attention.
Gonna head to Walmart in the morning to grab some DD gear before its gone like the way of the pressure cooker.
They can’t pull out of a contract.
Never mind. I’m watching it now and I’ll watch the whole thing. He is really good.
Classy first response, just what we figgered. I'm happy with their first salvo, I think we're going to enjoy this show as it proceeds. I'm not sure any of us will get a greater Christmas present, or see a better Christmas show.
A & E will become a nickname for stupid in the business world for years to come.
They ought to just tell A&E where to go and tell them they’re not doing another show until Phil is reinstated. Let’s see how committed they are to the tyranny of less than one percent of the population.
Not totally true. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects religious speech from interfering in the employee/employer relationship. Just as homosexuality and race are protected classes in employment so is religion. Phil could plausibly argue that A&E terminated him because of his religious beliefs and his speaking about them.
Personally, I think an employer should be able to hire and fire anyone they please for whatever reason or no reason but that is not the law.
LOL!
Bump that!
Thanks. I was only referring to the 1st Amendment, but the Act you just referenced certainly has bearing on this particular case, due to Phil's statement being overtly tied to his religious beliefs.
You're probably correct, so that's why they're discussing it with A&E. Essentially, their Ace of Trumps would be to all publicly agree 100% with Phil, forcing A&E to either suspend all or none. A&E is in a tiny little contractual corner.
