“Song of the South” is surprisingly available in the South.
Wow, I didn’t know you could still buy it. :)
There was also "Song of the South", a record made by the group Alabama written by Bob McDill, who also wrote "Good Ole Boys Like Me". I used to like both Alabama and McDill until I studied the lyrics of "Song of the South":
Well somebody told us Wall Street fell But we were so poor that we couldn't tell. Cotton was short and the weeds were tall But Mr. Roosevelt's a gonna save us all. Well momma got sick and daddy got down. The county got the farm and they moved to town. Pappa got a job with the TVA He bought a washing machine and then a Chevrolet. Both Alabama and Bob McDill are dead to me now for their praise of the satanic Roosevelt, the thoroughly evil creature who paved the way for the likes of obama, with commie giveaway programs. And, as for the TVA, it's a thoroughly corrupt marxist outfit depriving private industry of providing energy with efficiency.
The movie "Song of the South" is good but the song of the same name is an unadulterated travesty. In my estimation, they've banned the wrong one.
