The conservative group Ending Spending may have premiered the ad that nationalizes the 2014 midterm elections around Obamacare.
The 30-second killer ad was produced by Republican media consultant Larry McCarthy and goes after Jeanne Shaheen, the first-term Democratic Senator from New Hampshire who is likely to face former GOP Senator Scott Brown next year.
The ad begins with footage of Shaheen on the Senate floor echoing President Obama by saying, if you like your insurance you can keep it. An overlay graphic points out that Obama was given the Lie of the Year award from a fact-checking group for that whopper.
The ad then shifts to a local focus: It notes 20,000 people in New Hampshire have lost their insurance to date and that Obamacare exchanges offer only a single provider on the states individual market.
The ad ends with a zinger sign-off: Next November, if you like your senator, you can keep her. If not, you know what to do.
Its a very powerful ad indeed, Grace Marie Turner, the head of the Galen Institute, a health-care advocacy group, told me.
Chris Cillizza, the Washington Posts top political blogger, says Obamacares growing unpopularity makes the ads message dangerous for any Democrat. The latest ABC News poll shows 70 percent of independents oppose Obama on health care. Nearly half of all voters think Obamacare is making the health-care system worse versus only 19 percent who think it will improve matters. Cillizzas conclusion: You have a very scary situation for Shaheen and any other Democrat, which is almost all of them, on the record supporting the ACA. Get used to this ad. You are going to see it thousands of times in various forms before 2014 is over.
I was visiting my dentist yesterday and heard another patient lining up work that she intended to spread out much later. She was afraid her dental insurance was going to get trimmed. Even tho that’s not a direck part of Kenyancare. The receptionist told me she’s getting a lot of that now.
“-—the old GOP line will have to change.” Yup, that’s where I am. I send money only to those who swear to God himself that they will vote against new spending, bigger spending, new programs, Kenyancare, etc. We have to primary out the people who got us into this mess either by supporting it or sitting on their hands and watching it happen. The Republican party is our only real hope but it must be HOUSE-CLEANED and re-filled with actual Goldwater/Reagan conservatives. What I call DEAD CENTER conservatives. My only gripe with Goldwater is that he claimed the RIGHT for CONSERVATISM-—should have been the CENTER.
Is this the same group that promoted Deb Fischer in the Nebraska primary?
We have lived in NH for many, many years and there is no way in blazes that Scott Brown, the man who hates conservatives and the Tea Party as proven by his voting record, his actions and statements will EVER get our vote... NEVER.
So while what the ad says is true, there is no way we are voting for the Republican version of Obama lite.
Bob smith former Sen. from NH his name is in the works
Standby for the race hustlers and que the racist kid... the “if you like it you can keep it” slogan will become the new N word, its all they got.
What’s next... Obamacare - The Musical??
HERE'S MORE TALKING POINTS Democrats took AWAY our health care. They took away our doctors. They made healthcare prohibitively expensive.
Repubs tried to stop them....all voted against the ACA. There were numerous Republican bills---three years ago one bill aimed to help Americans keep their plans.
Dems voted it down...on Obama's orders. Nancy Pelosi egged them on---saying Americans could not wait any longer for Obama's "perfect" health care.
Democrats steamrolled over Americans---they had nothing to stop them: super-majority voting power, Obama buying their aye votes, and Nancy Pelosi pressuring them not to read ACA before voting.
