A pre-filed bill in the Missouri Senate would require parents of a public school student to report to the school if they own a gun.
Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal filed SB 549, which reads:
This act requires a parent or guardian to notify a school district, or the governing body of a private or charter school, that he or she owns a weapon within 30 days of enrolling the child in school or becoming the owner of a weapon. The written notification only needs to include the names of the parent and any child attending the school and the fact that the parent owns a weapon.
The good news is, if you have several children attending the same school, you only have to notify the school once. So theres that.
This isnt the first time Sen. Chappell-Nadal showed complete disregard for the privacy of Missourians. The bill is exactly like SB 124 from the 2013 General Assembly.
It went no where.
Stupid statists.
Her seat must be a safe one.
So Missouri doesn’t want to be part of the conservative states when we split?
I hope y’all living in “Misery”, just jump right out there, and state you do (NOT)!
Personally, I do not think the state has enough incarceration receptacles for everybody!
How stupid. Does the school report to the parents which of their teachers own guns. Won't be long before schools have gather reports on which parents are Christians, member of the Tea Party, or any other non government approved activity.
Be sure to also notify them every time you exercise any other right enumerated. Overload them!
Personally I would notify them by stating that I am exercising my constitution rights and leave it at that! Let them figure out which one.
Thank God this went nowhere.
How did I know that the sponsor (A) is a woman and (B) has a hyphenated last-name?
They already know that, thanks to the NSA...
Passing stupid laws is easy. Enforcing them is not easy.
There will be some that will submit to the will of the government.
Just say, “No!”
Maria N. Chappelle-Nadal is a Democrat from University City, Missouri, who represents District 14 in the Missouri State Senate. (North St. Louis)
The state senator is a democrat. While we do have a democrat governor, both houses of the General Assembly are firmly (and by firmly, I mean veto-proof majority) In Republican hands. This bill is going nowhere.
” Does the school report to the parents which of their teachers own guns”
How about the school reports which teacher /staff are gay? Which teachers/staff have AIDS/HIV/Hepatitis? Which ones are sex offenders?
How would little Miz hyphenated-name politico act if a citizen asked for this in a bill?
So Missouri doesnt want to be part of the conservative states when we split?
Please know that this bill has absolutely no chance of passing.
“How would little Miz hyphenated-name politico act if a citizen asked for this in a bill?”
Just ask her if *she* or any of her employees has a gun.
