John Kerry first set foot in Vietnam 44 years ago, a young U.S. Navy officer fighting in a war that would come to profoundly influence his political career and foreign policy thinking.
He returned again Saturday, this time as Americas top diplomat, offering security assurances and working to promote democratic and economic reforms in the communist country.
In his 14th trip to the Southeast Asian nation since the wars end, the U.S. secretary of state was trying to bolster the remarkable rapprochement that he had encouraged and helped to engineer as a senator in the 1990s.

"Shortly after taking office in 1985, Kerry and Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa went on a fact-finding trip to Nicaragua, where they met with Daniel Ortega (right) and other Sandinistas. The trip was criticized when the Sandinistas cemented ties with Moscow."

Shoot....
Wonder how many more medals Hanoi John will put himself in for with this trip.
Predictions?
Yes, he was even officially honored as such...by the North Vietnamese communists.
Will he visit the museum where he is seen as a Hero of the Communist Revolution— will he allow any photo-ops of him there to remind people WHY he is unfit for service.
Good. Then maybe he can go to Cambodia for Christmas like he did the last time that’s seared into his memory.
Is he taking patriot Jane Fonda with him?
If he stays long enough, he might finally get in a full tour
Sorry, entries are limited to new injuries only. Pick again.
Maybe he can get a splinter and apply for another purple heart.
“Kerry returns to Vietnam, now as top US diplomat”
Only in America!

“Is he taking patriot Jane Fonda with him?”
Sure! And he’ll have a purple heart on.
Isn’t he an admitted war criminal who hunted down a wounded and unarmed opponent and murdered him in cold blood? Troops in Afghanistan are going to prison for less.
You mean he was in Vietnam before?
Yeh, talk about unfit for duty.
Puke....He even made an appearance in the Army-Nave pregame.
Army-Navy that is.
Did you hear any booing?
“Can I get me a huntin’ license here?” -J F’n Kerry
I’m no expert on military protocol, but I never recall seeing campaign ribbons displayed on what use to be called fatigues.
Is that normal or did he get these at some military surplus store (like the medals he tossed over the WH fence)?
but still returns as a traitor
