Military retirees are outraged that Congress will start voting Thursday on a budget deal that trims military pensions, calling the move "an egregious breach of faith."
The Military Coalition, some 27 military groups, wrote to leaders in Congress and President Obama late Wednesday about their "strong objection" and "grave concern" over the budget deal.

Is Congress cutting its bennies and pensions?
but the Marxists would go ballistic if anybody mentions cutting union pensions.
“The Military Coalition, some 27 military groups, wrote to leaders in Congress and President Obama late Wednesday about their “strong objection” and “grave concern” over the budget deal.”
Grave concern wont buy you a corn flake, vets.
You had better be ready to make some noise with us, or those VA lines are going to be the least of your concerns.
Hey, Paul Ryan: I guess the vets “read it and are getting back to you.”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahaha! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! *snort*! ! ! !
Bingo. The unions are the Dems’ military.
Surely you jest.
Zero and Congress are about to repeat history. The war bonus revolt will be nothing compared to this. Now I see why DHS is hoarding all that ammo.
What do they think “austerity” means? Here’s a hint: It’s NOT Latin for “cut everbody else’s but leave mine alone”.
Join the club and get in line, soldier.
Instead, the deal includes this:
The 1% cut ends up saving the budget $6 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Congress would also make newly hired civilian federal workers contribute 1.3% more of their paychecks to pensions if the budget deal becomes law.
On the face of it, it sounds fair - its larger than teh military cut. Then you read in a little and realize that the military cut is on folks that have already enlisted or commissioned and served. The civilan side cut is ONLY to new hires - existing members of the Federal Bloatocracy are not subject to this.
So yeah, what could have been a fair and reasonable effort to trim costs for all becomes yet another gimme to the AFSCME types, and another middle finger tot eh military.
Someone has to pay for ObamaCare.
It can’ be the welfare queens, illegal aliens now and coming, the knock out thugs and queens, the under educated mass, and the hoards with worthless instant unemployment degrees.
So Congress will cut the benefits for our retired, wounded/injured and active duty military personnel.
The liberal mediots and their lying clones in congress will rip out the guts of our vets and soon to be vets before cutting any money to the scum in America getting our tax $’s.
But I have a sister who is collecting social security disability on a fake problem. Fibromyalgia.
I guess NO ONE is talking about cutting her money or weeding out the fakers.
So my husband spent over 20 in the military is an easy target. No problem that he was promised something different.
Gotta love those repubs. They sure have our backs.
You have my permission to call it austerity, when 75% of Welfare has been cut. Until then we’re just kidding ourselves. This is merely an excuse to dismantle what is right and wholesome in the U. S.
The average cut in pension payouts, including compounding interest, for a retiring Army Sergeant first class, would be about $3,700 each year, according to the Military Officers Association of America. Over 20 years, the total losses could balloon to more than $80,000. "While portrayed as a minor change, a 20% reduction in retired pay and survivor benefit values is a massive cut in military career benefits," wrote groups, including the Air Force Sergeants Association, Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America and the Marine Corps League, among others in the letter. The change is infuriating to military retirees like Army Col. Michael Barron, who retired nearly 4 years ago, after 30 years of service, which included being deployed to both Iraq wars. "It's not fair at all. I spent a 30 year career in the military. I clearly understood what the (cost of living increases) would be," said Barron, deputy director of government relations for the Military Officers Association of America. "This is the worst kind of example of a shady, back-room deal." Military groups say the cut is unfair because the changes will affect those who have already put in their years of service.
Incredible.
May the name "Paul Ryan" be forever associated with shame. If he (or any Republican that votes for this travesty) attends ANY ceremony on Veterans or Memorial Day, may they be booed off the stage.
This is the most egregious political back stab by the Republican party in its entire history. They could not go after the people taking ObamaPhones, they did not go after the ObamaCare subsidy Takers, they did not go after the 49 million SNAP card swipers, they did not go after the scammers on Social Security Disability - they went after American veterans who served their nation in uniform.
If this is what a Republican is supposed to be, I am ashamed I am registered as one. Never again will I vote for any of these people.
Well folks as long as everyone is part of this cut it is certainly necessary. Isn’t it! I have stated on a number of occasions, that I must be willing to accept at least a 40% cut or I’m part of the problem. We will see how this shakes out but there is nothing wrong with Military retirees leading in the effort to save the country.
That said, someone on high demanding the military lead is not much of a lead, but nevertheless if it happens we can at least say we were willing to do our part. I have been the beneficiary of a goodly number of COL raises, that have kept me well fed over a period of over 20 years. I’d much rather see a cut in my retirement than the option of being shot.
Yea I know that will never happen and hasn’t been mentioned. Just thought I’d bring it up. Since we all know exactly who it is that should be on the list of severe reductions in pay, benefits, and life care. Unfortunately the problem has been unaddressed for decades so the real culprits and crooks who have squandered our resources are mostly long expired.
Leaving the living, to shoulder the responsibility and suffer the pain, and try once again to right the ship of state and recover our long forgotten liberty. We’ve enjoyed the lap of luxury for much longer than we deserve. JMHO.
“....on a fake problem. Fibromyalgia”
I don’t really think you mean Fibromyalgia is fake. My late wife had this condition and believe my I watched her suffer. Guess what, she was denied Soc Disability. Go figure.
When will the media blame republicans?
