SAINT CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) - "Friendly, loveable, playful, said Brittany Preston as she described her dog Lexie. She was just my puppy."
Preston says she left her dog with her Grandpa at his home in Saint Clair Shores, went to work overnight, came home, and the dog was dead.
She says Grandpa has mild dementia and forgot he let the dog out. The dog started barking. Between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 a.m. several neighbors sick of the noise called police.

Maybe this was a justified shooting. But I am curious about something. Most English policemen are armed only with a short club. How do English cops handle loud, charging dogs?
Do they simply run away? Or do they club the dogs to death? Or do they keep calm and just handle the situation?

Why send the trigger happy swat wannabes instead of animal control? Is shooting the only way cops have of dealing with a dog? First they start shooting dogs for “barking”, next they will shoot people for talking back to them.
Woof-Woof
Why can’t these problem dogs be tranquilized instead of shot dead?
You hear this thing all the time and while I can understand a charging dog is a problem for cops trying to defend, seems they always just want to pull out their guns and shoot.
I’ll tell you this, though I cannot imagine a scenario where this would happen, if anyone shot my dog for barking at them I’d have to get my gun and shoot THEM!
It’s what dogs do! But the cops....they keep shooting them.
There’s no saner solution?
What is it with these cops?
“next they will shoot people for talking back to them.”
They already do that...
Much as I hate dogs getting shot by Cops.....
She should have kept the dog at home. Dropping it off to spend the night with someone with diminished mental capacity is not the smartest way to go.
Many dogs run toward a new person to be friendly. The barking is excitement. The cop takes no chances and kills the dog. There is no recourse. Your dog is dead. Just be thankful that they didn’t see granpa with a TV remote, yell to him to put down the gun, but he doesn’t drop the TV remote because it’s not a gun, and he’s dead too.
Welcome to the wonderful world of trust in the new USA.
in St. Clair Shores?
I was, as a teenager... under the impression that St Clair Shores was a fairly upscale burb and find it rather odd that this sort of behavior has found its way there...
“Many dogs run toward a new person to be friendly. The barking is excitement. The cop takes no chances and kills the dog.”
Apparently cops have never seen a dog before and are totally unfamiliar with normal dog behavior. Its as if they have been trained that a barking dog is as deadly as a lion and must not be allowed to get close.
There have been barking dogs that I have wished dead. Never kilt one, but won’t rule it out
The dog was hit eight times

I can’t say what i think...
They usually shoot dogs for NO reason.
Well said.
