Agreed. I'm not going to exist as a virtual slave to Obama's freeloader constituency. A world with Obama as the ruler is not a world I particularly care to continue to exist in.
In 2015 it will be $325 of 2% whichever is greater. Thus if your income is $50000 your penalty will be $1000 dollars.
In 2016 the minimum penalty is $695 or 2.5% whichever is greater. This with $50000 your penalty will be $1125.
Oh, and IMHO, it looks like this Penalty (oops TAX) is NOT TAX DEDUCTABLE.
Eric Holder would only seek jail terms for white conservatives.
“If you like your liberties, you can KEEP your liberties. Period.”
The little boy king sure is convinced of his absolute powers, isn’t he?
His whole rationale for Obamacare is that people who don’t qualify for Medicaid shouldn’t be bankrupted by healthcare costs if they don’t have insurance. Turns out he’d rather send them to jail instead.
Seems though that indeed most of the ones applying for it DO qualify for Medicaid (Re: the 1.6 million who have dubiously ‘enrolled’; 1.46 million of them for Medicaid)
When is Congress going to realize they are no longer relevant.
Can we start by jailing all the illegals who cross the border without health insurance?
But they didn’t need Obamacare for that.
Au contraire. I won’t cite the particular NYT article that explains that Medicaid eligibility indeed has relaxed the eligibility requirements under PPACA because I don’t want to give them the network traffic. But you can do a web search on that question and easily find several confirmations.
State by state, they have adopted the easier standards—but that could have been done without the exchanges, mandates, IPAB and all the rest.
Congress doesn’t care.
Likely. But they could not have kept it so secret (at least in terms of generally disseminated knowledge) for three years without having it buried in the language of the virtually unread 2000 page+ PPACA bill.
For the last three years, most of the talk about PPACA was on birth control, keeping children on policies, insuring pre-existing conditions, etc. We find out that most of this talk was minutia compared to the kinds of things we are now finding out about, a significant expansion in Medicaid costs being one of them.
At least the New York Times has been consistent. As their Walter Duranty wrote in 1933, you can't make an omlette without breaking eggs.
they get free healthcare in jail!
hmmm, Obama’s America ushers in the return of debtor’s prison
the uninsured all become potential bit players in a new Le Miserable
welcome, citizen
that penalty is per person, right?
