“We are a wealthy enough country"

Hey Colonel Asshat...This country is $17.6 TRILLION in debt. Maybe in your world, that is wealth, but here in the real world, that's poverty past the brink of bankruptcy.

He’s not a Republican. He supported the Obamabastard - twice.

Just another festering sore from the Bush Administration - BOTH of them.

I once thought Powell would be a good Republican President. I was completely mistaken. This was a good lesson for me and has made me more conservative in who I support in GOP primaries. There are some characteristics of any candidate that completely disqualify them from receiving my vote.

Colon is alive right now precisely because we don’t have universal health care.

Colon keep your mouth shut. With your silence everyone assumes your stupidity but when you open your mouth there is no need for any assumption.

Former Secretary of State and longtime Republican Colin Powell is calling for a universal health care solution in the U.S. “We are a wealthy enough country with the capacity to make sure that every one of our fellow citizens has access to quality health care,”

We have for decades had universal health care in the United States. The 1986 Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) requires anyone coming to an emergency department to be stabilized and treated, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay, and even before then physicians and hospitals treated those in need as a social duty. What Obama is doing is wrecking a functional medical system to "guarantee" medical insurance for those willing to subsidize their in most cases wealthier neighbors. There is no logical justification for such a change, except for those who value all expansions of federal government power over our lives.

The token general, so eloquently characterized in the movie, “Mars Attack”, again, opens up his vacuous mind, engages his tongue, and trips on it.

Pure Barbra Streisand from Gen Powell.

I started with nothing, worked my way up with hard work in college and jobs to be able to pay for MY OWN healthcare.

If I can do it, so can the lazy people who spend time playing Nintendo instead of acquiring a useful skill.

I say it’s time to end all income/racial/demogrphic differences. What we need is to pass a law where everyone gets a Government backed guaranteed tax free income of say $100,000.00 a year and all food housing, cell phone, internet, schooling, drugs and medical is paid for by the government. Oh and gasoline should be FREE to time ‘Big Oil’ paid their dues!

You can work if you want to, but your first $100,000.00 extra you make will be taxed at 50%. Any money you make over $200,000.00 you will lose dollar for dollar from your guaranteed Government check. Also anything you make over $200,000.00 in total income will be taxed at 90% and you lose your guaranteed Government Check. Also for every $50,000.00 you make over $200,000.00 your tax rate goes up .5% with no cap and no deductions.

We are a rich enough country so why should we be made to work just to make Corporate America richer? Time we even things out! Time everyone gets a share! Time the rich folk and the government pony up the money for stuff we have the RIGHT TO! NO MORE SLAVE WAGES! NO MORE MAKING THE MAN RICH!!!

He didn’t benefit from universal health care. That’s BS. He got health care insurance based his employment with the military and the U. S. government. And if someone did not have an employer that provided health care insurance they could buy policies on their own ... that is before Obama screwed it up so that premiums now double and triple

Obama’s failure on all issues seemed to have shut up Powell for a long time.

His views outside of the military only matter because he is black. He is boring and stupid. At least Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz are funny nutcases.

He really disappoints me.

It’s difficult to imagine him inspiring the troops when he makes noises like this.

He should know better. I suspect he might, which is sad.
