“criticizing unfettered capitalism, saying, This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope.
Limbaugh wants UNFETTERED capitalism? The kind that has turned China into a gigantic sewer of poisoned lakes and rivers and where people have to walk around with face masks and eye protection because the air is so poisoned and filthy? Where people have to eat food (animal and plant) that is poisoned with God only knows how many chemicals? No thanks.
When did China begin practicing unfettered capitalism? Also, the biggest polluters around the world are all socialist state run economies. Not even close.
“Limbaugh wants UNFETTERED capitalism?”
Exactly. I am a Catholic and a daily listener to Rush’s show. I listened to his program today and heard most if not all of what he said about the pope’s latest document. No rational person really believes in “unfettered capitalism”. People say so, but they don’t realize that that would I can steal your stuff. Unfettered capitalism is essentially lawlessness. It is about pure power. We have NEVER had unfettered capitalism. We have always had laws governing and protecting ownership and transfer of property to protect rights. That’s clearly NOT unfettered capitalism. Free market? Yeah, to a great extent, but certainly not “unfettered capitalism”.
You think China has “unfettered” capitalism?
Seriously?
Half of those corporations are owned by the Chinese government and chinese army.
That is where you are WRONG. China is not an example of unfettered capitalism. Capitalism requires the rule of law. A person may not transgress on another via force, coercion or damage them or their property without consequences where rule of law exists.
What you have in China is corporatism. Gov and Biz are in bed with each other and the average man suffers for it.
We are headed that way, although I would classify our evolution as more like the National Socialists. Not pretty either way.
Here’s a landlord trying to practice unfettered capitalism: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3096242/posts
Try reading a bit more real history on China and a bit of economic education wouldn't hurt a bit either.
If you believe that Capitalists desire to turn drinking or other water into poison, air into a toxic soup, food into the mess with Melamine that we're allowing to be shipped here, you obviously have a tremendous liberal philosophical bent too.
In fact, I think from your description of those of us who like to run a business without a socialist government creating new rules each and very day, sounds like you're related to our President or his lovely wife, Much-elle!
some Freepers do not really know what Captitalism is. Unfettered Capitalism is what Obama has...Cronyism that is statist.
I think most people here including Rush tend to think that the Pope must be addressing only the Catholic faithful in the U.S. They forget that the Pope is speaking not only to our situation but to places such as China where unfettered capitalism (ironically) causes just what you point out.
A lot of confusion in this thread. The Chinese economic system is Fascism, which is a synonym for "Crony Capitalism." It is not Free-Market Capitalism.
wow, the leftists on FR are coming out from under their rocks........
and a happy Thanksgiving to you to........except you might want to check your ignorance at the dinner table when you spout the multiple points the current administration wants you to give to the rest who are at your table.
The idea that unfettered capitalism causes dirty air and water in China is beyond stupid, capitalism had nothing to do with the pollution there, however, state controlled monopoly directives DID cause it.
The finest example of so called "unfettered" capitalism was Taiwan before the Chicoms took it over. There was little to no pollution as a result, people were incredibly entrepreneurial, very little poverty, and pollution was under control. they were once a perfect example of "unfettered" capitalism.
This is a long story, but listen up, and listen well: Peter Lynch was the head of the Magellan Fund (a great winner in the world of unfettered capitalism, even a better record than Warren Buffet). I heard him relate the story of his father bringing him all over the world as a young boy just after WWII. They visited the rubble of some fifty countries in the West and the East, all around the globe. In the early to mid 1990's, after he left Magellan, he took his family around the same exact itinerary. According to him, EVERY country with a top down statist economy was not far removed from the state of rubble he had seen as a child (dirty, lots of poverty, little hope), and EVERY country that came close to "unfettered" capitalism was not only quite well off, having lifted themselves from the rubble, but had far less pollution and far greater hope as a culture. To the degree that each country had a top down statist approach, was the degree of poverty, misery, and pollution.
I don't know what the Pope said, but if he came anywhere near what was reported, the man simply needs to continue on another subject, as he may be as ignorant on this subject as you are.
