I remember the summer of 2011, a story about a crowd of teenagers at the Wisconsin State Fair randomly attacking fairgoers went viral as a sign of a burgeoning race war. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel fanned the flames, calling the teenagers "rampaging youths" who caused "mob-like disturbances":
"Then around the closing time of 11 p.m., witnesses told the Journal Sentinel, dozens to hundreds of black youths attacked white people as they left the fair, punching and kicking people and shaking and pounding on their vehicles."
"Dozens to hundreds"? When witnesses can't differentiate between 24 and 100, should we really rely on them to speculate whether a crime was racially motivated? One of the reasons the story gained so much traction could have stemmed from the fact that Milwaukee is the most segregated city in the country, and it validated white residents' fear that their black neighbors are dangerous.
Now, the false trend story of black mob violence has cropped up again, as it seems to do annually, in conservative media outlets. (McKay Coppins wrote about this phenomenon in BuzzFeed last year.) The new scare is the "knockout game," in which black youths supposedly attack innocent people just for fun. Conservative pundits decry the MSM for suffering from political correctness and whitewashing crimes perpetrated by black people, but a more reasonable explanation for why most media outlets aren't devoting round-the-clock coverage to the knockout game is thatsorry, Sean Hannitythere is no hard data showing that it's a trend.

marching orders must have been sent from the White Hut because leftist sites are all saying the same thing as usual
So, is it a myth when events like the fairs in Wisconsin have to be cancelled because marauding gangs of feral black youth from Milwaukee run around punching out whites? Or when flash mobs do group smash & grab theft at stores? Or when films of “knockouts” appear all over the internet?
Or, is it a myth because it’s just business as usual?
Tell that to the victims.
The message is “don’t be cautious, don’t fight back, because if you do either, you’re racist”.
It’s not a trend, but stories about it are only just recently popping up. It was always happening before! < /s>
The Left will stop at nothing to create their illusions.
I was attacked by a mob of black kids one time at the LA county fair. I was just walking along minding my own business when suddenly I was surrounded by about 20 black kids. I didn’t think much of it at first until I realized I was in the middle of them and one from behind me sucker punched me. They then surrounded me and some of them chided the older ones to hit me. I stood my ground and stared down the biggest one, basically daring him to try it. It worked because they backed off at that point. I’m positive I was a target only because I was white and I was in an area where there wasn’t a lot of people around. This pack of little thugs were obviously going around the fair repeating this to other innocent people.
This happened to me in the late 60s. That’s right, 50 or so years ago. So this kind of crap has been going on a long, long time.
Who should I believe, Emma Roller or my lying eyes (its all over youtube).
And, the same people had a meltdown over the Duke lacrosse team rape case, in which a black girl charged she was raped.
Statistically, a white man raping a black girl almost never happens, but, we were led to believe that the biggest threat to any black girl was a group of white boys on a sports team. A similar story was behind the Tawana Brawley tale, in which a black girl also charged sexual assault.
it never happens- we always have 4 nicknames for stuff that never happens.
they let any old tard write for Slate I guess.
I’m not sure I understand Slate’s reasoning. The knockout game doesn’t exist because witness accounts for one instance varied from “dozens to hundreds”? Then no crime exists, because there will always be variability in eyewitness accounts under duress. Sounds like better crowd estimates than MSNBC does at the mall in Washington D.C, anyway.
I also like their snide super-plus-good-not-racist implication that (white) Milwaukie residents can’t be trusted because it’s “the most segregated city in the country”. Nice to see what passes for liberal logic.
It’s not real until it happens to a liberal journalist.
“Milwaukie residents cant be trusted because its the most segregated city in the country”
Wait a minute...doesn’t slate routinely publish claims that the South is the source and home of racism?
It’s not a knock out game. It is Obama yutes redistributing the divirsity of the inner cities.
