From PAULA BOLYARD's wonderful article on pjmedia.com:Compare and Contrast: Leno Interviewing Obama and Cruz
Does Jay have a double standard? On Friday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz made his first appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Leno, allegedly in his last season as host of the Tonight Show, has not been known as a particularly partisan entertainer,
so it was surprising to see him go "Candy Crowley" on Ted Cruz...-- snip --
...Some on Twitter compared Leno to a prosecuting attorney as he interrupted Cruz and accused him
of everything from shutting down the government to wanting violent psychopaths to have guns.Cruz, for his part, used the appearance to his advantage, clearly understanding both the venue and the audience. It seemed to go over well with the audience, which erupted into cheers after several of Cruzs points...
Although Cruz is certainly more than capable of holding his own in a debate with Leno,
he chose mostly to keep his powder dry, defying the media-generated image of him as a hostile aggressor.
He was relaxed and laid back, despite the tough questioning.THIS THREAD will help to review, analyze and document that historic event. :)
Please feel free to add YOUR positive comments and suggestions.
And who knows, the folks at TEAM CRUZ might actually READ what you post here. ;)
No sleight to them.
Wow - is that really her? From Katie Couric Without Makeup, Looking Like a Real Mom:
:)
What should Jay have done, just kiss his @ss all night?
I think he threw soft balls and hard balls at Cruz, and it allowed him to reach an audience that for the most part is liberal.
You win the argument, then the vote. He said that and it makes sense. That’s what Reagan did.
My only concern, if you will, is that Cruz comes across a bit feminine. I wish he would sit taller, and was more manly in his style and voice.
But for me, he’s my guy right now.
My only concern, if you will, is that Cruz comes across a bit feminine.:)I wish he would sit taller, and was more manly in his style and voice.
Sort of like THIS?
What should Jay have done, just kiss his @ss all night?Yeah, that pretty much comes with the territory of being a late-night TV ENTERTAINER.
If I wanted a hard-bitten adversarial REPORTER, I would......gee, I' not sure WHERE I would look to find one of those, in today's "low information" media culture. :(
But for me, hes my guy right now.Me, too!
And, it appears that we are not alone. ;)Check out THIS wonderful new in-depth interview, just posted at spectator.org:
Politics' Leading Man
Ted Cruz just put on one hell of a show.
The point of this is to let Americans see him, hear him for themselves without the filters. Now they know he is a decent guy, not an evil ghoul the media and obamabots make him out to be. Mission accomplished.
The point of this is to let Americans see him, hear him for themselves without the filters.I agree! Now they know he is a decent guy, not an evil ghoul the media and obamabots make him out to be.
Mission accomplished.
Although for a while there, it felt like this was going to be a "Black Hawk Down" kind of victory. )
Jay's attacks **did** expose some weaknesses in the Cruz defense system......but in the words of Captain Ramius, I am confident that Senator Cruz...
...won't make the same mistake twice!
I’m sure Leno has been criticized by Dems because he has gone after Obama many times, something the media has completely backed off from. My guess is his audience knew this and loved it.

Ok... it came thru. Very funny!!!!
Seriously, I think his handlers should pick up his manliness.
I did not see the show, but from what I heard, Jay was pretty rough on Ted. If that was what happened, I suspect it was a purposeful exercise in playing the contrarian. I think Jay likes Ted and what he represents, but Jay did not want to do a light weight, patty cake type of interview, that would confirm leftist suspicions that Jay sucks up to the Tea Party on command. Ted may have seen this overcompensating behavior too, so Ted knew it wasn’t anything to get truly upset about. Jay wanted to give people something to talk about, and we are still now discussing it today.
Being combative with solid facts & responses is a good thing, especially for Republican conservatives. Being overly conciliatory & capitulating & failing to aggressively pounce on Jay Leno’s inaccuracies & interruptions is not a good thing. So far, only Newt Gingrich is able to factually & precisely shoot down demoRATs, especially when he destroys media partisan hacks for the demoCRAPS & 0dumb0.
Cruz is gifted. Brilliant. He has an amazing mind. We Texans are very proud of him.
Jay Leno is a very nice guy and no raging liberal. He is funnier in person. very cool guy. Don’t read too much in to his interaction with Cruz.
I did not see the show, but from what I heard, Jay was pretty rough on Ted...Check out THIS solid analysis, that Jane Chastain just posted on www.wnd.com :
Leno gets a lesson in Cruz control
Exclusive: Jane Chastain says senator won the day on 'Tonight Show'Jay Leno is a car aficionado. He collects them. He knows them.
He works on them and delights in driving them. However, Friday night the junior senator from Texas gave the late-night comic a lesson
on one option he may have missed: Cruz control.I am a big Leno fan.
Im rarely up that late, but I tape his shows and
watch his opening monologue the next night for laughs. His political jokes are sometimes over the top, but, for the most part,
they accurately reflect what is going on in Washington and give us some much-needed comedy relief.
His barbs are often cleaver and insightful.Another thing I appreciate about Leno is that he picks on everyone, Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians.
It makes no difference.Leno claims to be fiscally conservative but socially liberal.
Although he and his wife support Democratic candidates, for the most part, he is extremely fair.
Not surprising, among late-night hosts, his show has
the largest number of self-identified conservative and Republican viewers.I usually hit the "off" button after the monologue but occasionally
stay tuned for another segment that catches my interest.Leno is almost always affable and polite with his guests,
even with those he has mercilessly skewered and those with whom he openly disagrees. The rare exception was his treatment of Michele Bachmann.
It was out of character and shameful!
Clearly, Leno was out to end her political career and he succeeded.Friday night, it was evident that Leno was out to do the same thing to Ted Cruz.
The attempt fell flat. To use another automotive term, it backfired,
leaving the senator with a new group of fans and thousand of others who want to hear more.Clearly, the Leno interview was a setup...

Check out THIS solid analysis, that Jane Chastain just posted on www.wnd.com:Gentlemen, this article also NEEDS IT'S OWN THREAD, I think.
Leno gets a lesson in Cruz control
Exclusive: Jane Chastain says senator won the day on 'Tonight Show'
Would ONE OF YOU please start a new thread based on Jane Chastain's new analysis on WND?Thank you. :)
Clearly, the Leno interview was a setup...Here's MORE from Jane Chastain:
...Clearly, the Leno interview was a setup. The first personality in the guest chair usually just slides over when the next guest appears.
It didnt happen with Bachmann, and it didnt happen Friday night.
Obviously, these celebs were warned ahead of time to get out of Dodge.Leno was tense in the introduction....
-- snip --
There were none of his usual softballs.
Lenos first question was meant to cut Cruz down to size. Leno:"Ive been reading a lot about you lately,-- snip --
and they describe you as aggressive, arrogant and abrasive. Accurate?"...Leno is well-known for his "Jaywalking" segments where he tests young people
on their knowledge of major political and historical events. However, in this interview, it was the comedian who showed his ignorance
when he accused Cruz of shutting down the government and then stated,"John Roberts Republican, pretty much said this is the law.Leno based other questions around these regurgitated liberal lies:
Obamacare is the law of the land. Lets move on.
Isnt that true?"People lost their jobs (Cruzs fault) during the government shutdown. So, where is Leno getting his information?
(Government workers got free, paid vacations.)Cruz has focused on social issues.
Cruzs father (a pastor) has been talking against gays.
Cruz is against gun laws that require background checks.
Obamacare will help his state of Texas.
My guess is from his wife, Marvis, who is heavily involved with Eleanors Smeals Feminist (not) Majority.
Just check out its website.
Its full of feminist rants, lies, half-truths and misleading information.Liberals simply cannot win their arguments without them...
