Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Sunday defended the party's strategy in the Virginia gubernatorial race against attacks from conservative groups that it didn't do enough to help GOP candidate Ken Cuccinelli.
Tea Party groups said the GOP establishment kept its wallet closed to Cuccinelli, the conservative attorney general who lost to Democrat Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday. Democratic party organizations, those groups said, spent more heavily on McAuliffe than the GOP did on Cuccinelli.
But Priebus said the RNC invested heavily in Cuccinelli's "ground game," commenting that he was "proud" of the effort.
"The RNC outside the presidential election is never in the business of buying millions and millions of dollars of ads," Priebus said on CNN's "State of the Union."
Thank You, Thank You, It’s a great Honor!
He did absolutely nothing and allowed a fellow liberal Democrat to be elected.
He's beaming with pride right now.
No one should be “proud” of a loss
especially the RNC’s very own Tom Arnold
Send your donations to your local TEA Party candidates. Cut off the RNC. They will send your money to GOP-e candidates who would rather see Democrats elected than limited government conservative candidates. Remember how they have treated Ted Cruz and Mike Lee?
Jackass Priebus keeps throwing around the words "ground game" to try and make it seem like the GOP-E was actually doing something for Cuccinelli, when it fact it wasn't. The measly $3 million that the RNC spent was sent down ticket in the summer and dried up on October 1, just as McAuliffe was gaining steam with his lying "war on women" meme.
There was NO Republican ground game in Virginia, and I know a number of county chairmen who were thoroughly frustrated and baffled by the lack of communication and coordination by the party in that race.
Ground game my arse...!
FU reince... you are a rat... a turn coat... a traitor... it was because of you and rove that we lost.
Prince Priebus is the complete ass.
I routinely toss ALL requests for money from the DNC into the waste can....unopened.
I NEVER answer any calls from the central Republicrat Party.
What, exactly, is a Reince Priebus ?
Oh, I answer the calls from the RNC and they don’t like what they hear.
I stopped answering when the deluge began to increase. I kept telling them that I was no longer a Republican, but had changed by support to the Monarchist Party.
It’s a sinking ship. It is permanent.
You mean Herbie Hancock.
Wonder if the USA will become a good reef to grow future socialists?..
You know after the republican elite blow huge holes in her..
Course the republicans could STAMPEDE!...
Pre- 2008 I was a pretty reliable donor to the RNC, even as a single woman. I have the thank you glossies from Bush to prove it. I assumed I was too naive to know where the money should be spent and just handed it over to the Big Guys.
Cuccinelli should have won. I know with my eyeballs how little outside help we had because over the summer I watched Obenshain outraise that freakshow 2:1. And screw the Chamber Of Commerce while I’m at it.
Wow newbie, how did either of those two give us Priebus? Or maybe you’re just trolling to get some GOP bashing in?
Is it ZOT time?
One of Santa's little elves...
what effort?
Even the money they spent, a third less than in 2009, was general GOTV for all races not just for the Governors race.
They spent nearly nothing for the Governors race.
and Prince Reebus is “proud”?
I think he is proud to lose on purpose
He also reported that Christie is a great right-wing conservative.....
Another GOPe leader proud of his LOSS.
Two thoughts:
1. Priebus couldn’t give Cuccinelli any of MY money, because I didn’t give any to the national GOP.
2. Cuccinelli was NOT running to be a SENATOR.
Let’s not forget about 2014, when we can REPEAL OBAMA-CARE with majorities in both the HOUSE and the SENATE!
