The Mormon church stands to own nearly 2 percent of Florida by completing a deal to buy most of the real estate of the St. Joe Co. for more than a half-billion dollars.
The megapurchase was announced jointly Thursday by a corporate representative of church, which owns the nearly 295,000-acre Deseret Ranches in Central Florida, and by the real-estate and timber business, which has built several communities along the Panhandle coast.

I see...
Theres an awful lot of Muzzies down there in Florida, which I find worrisome.
Thousands of Americans are out of work and in need. The mormon church has 565 million dollars fron exempt tithing revenue to tie up the water resources and developable land, with profit$ in mind.
What would Jesus say?

WRONG.
Your zeal of anti mormonism, and attempt to portray this as using tithing funds is based on falsehoods. AgReserve is a separate business venture of the church, and is run independent, using it’s own revenue to advance it’s mission, which is to feed millions of people through it’s farms, ranches, etc. Primarily, it is for the vast welfare operations of the church, but it also sells the surpluses that it produces at a profit, which moneys has provided this increased acquisition.
I know you find joy in hitting mormons over the head with headlines, but dig deeper, you might learn something.
Didnt that money come from offering plates within their congregations?

No it didn’t. AgReserves is a separate, for profit agricultural venture, even though much of what they do is charity, it still isn’t tax exempt like the Church as a whole. It doesn’t use tithing funds.
I DARE any of you defenders of mormon charity to provide links to articles describing mormon charities that are NOT specifically geared to aiding mormon members.
How many soup kitchens are “feeding Jesus’ NON-MORMON sheep” from the millions of dollars worth of food stored in mormon-owned and run storehouses?
Let’s see some examples of why you think that half-a-billion dollars is better spent on adding to corporate mormonism’s wealth.

AGAIN, WRONG. Get off your anti Mormon high horse.
The LDS CHurch has donated over 1 billion since 85 to humanitarian needs, in countries all over the world. This is not the welfare system for members, but strictly to suffering people, regardless of faith.
In addition, non mormons can and do participate in the local welfare programs. If you doubt it, visit one of the Bishops storehouses near where you live. Really, you might learn something. To coin your phrase “I DARE” you.
Bottom line, as stated by Joseph Smith:
“We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all.”
huh?
I am have elder aunt and uncle who cannot afford to pay their tithes to keep their TRs, so they work for free daily (5 days a week) in a storage/farm/food pantry......
no wonder profits are so high with these mormonism business.....’free’ labor.
What part of “they sell the excess” from their welfare needs did you not understand?
Or are you ignoring it?
And most of the 800+ who died at the Jonestown cult compound didn’t have guns to their head as they took the koolaid...
And the San Diego Heaven’sGate cult that also committed suicide — thinking it ‘twas some gateway to meeting aliens — also took it willingly.

They may I suggest you reevaluate your constant attacking of Mormons, and instead post about Jonestown and Heavens Gate. FReepers are getting sick and tired of your one tone wonder diatribes.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I tend to ignore them . . . or clean them off my shoe.

Sound advice. I don’t think I should even finish reading this thread.
Unsubstantiated. Provide links to prove this largesse to non-mormons. Since the mormon church hides its financial info, I'm sure you can find links from other sources...2005 to 2013 equals 28 years.
Sure...just as soon as the 80,000 mormon (that's a heck of a lot) missionaries stop traveling the world and attacking Christianity's beliefs 24 hours a day and the thousand mormon websites doing the same are shut down...holding my breath.
As far as I know, they are both defunct now.
And, unlike the Mormons -- who attempt to kick Christians out of Christianity with their "we're the ONLY authorized 'Christians' on earth" claims -- Heaven's Gate NEVER counterfeited themselves as "Christian."
sanctimonious drivel.......
Full Time Senior and Church-Service Opportunities
"Farmland Reserve is part of the multi-corporate, international agricultural management company charged with managing the Church's agricultural investments. These agricultural, Church-service missionary positions are needed to serve as building and maintenance specialists on our farms and ranches throughout the world. Missionaries will be primarily involved in maintenance of farm housing and facilities. Sisters can also serve in the local community and participate in humanitarian aid projects. These missions are typically full-time living away from home, but also include live at home opportunities. The length of service is optional, from 6 to 23 months depending on the assignment.
Ok, I’ll respond to this one. AgReserves is a separate entity, for profit venture, run by a Church subsidiary, but since a huge part of it’s mission is to provide beef and agricultural products for the worldwide Church welfare system, it makes a whole lot of sense that some welfare or service volunteer efforts help accommodate that.
Your efforts continue to be spiteful toward everything LDS.
Given how many responses from FReepers who are tired of the constant anti Mormon threads on FR, perhaps it’s time for you little group to utilize your oft used barb of secrecy and start “silent running” again.
I’m sure you have your yellow submarine icon handy someplace.
On the other hand, I know of several Freepers who have investigated the LDS church and joined as a result of the actions of your group. You may think you are doing God’s work... perhaps you are. Do what you will.
Start a thread
Name them, the FRers who have left the tangles of mormonISM will openly name themselves
(Bert driveled, rather sanctimoniously!)
That STARTED how?
I know you find joy in hitting NON-mormons over the head with anything, but dig deeper into Mormon teachings, writings and history, and YOU might learn something.
