IF ALL THE ICE MELTED
nationalgeographic.com ^ | November 2013

Posted on 11/08/2013 6:40:54 AM PST by oxcart

Explore the world’s new coastlines if sea level rises 216 feet.

The maps here show the world as it is now, with only one difference: All the ice on land has melted and drained into the sea, raising it 216 feet and creating new shorelines for our continents and inland seas.

There are more than five million cubic miles of ice on Earth, and some scientists say it would take more than 5,000 years to melt it all. If we continue adding carbon to the atmosphere, we’ll very likely create an ice-free planet, with an average temperature of perhaps 80 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the current 58.

There are so many things that are retarded about this article it isn’t funny. It is sad we have people this stupid writing articles.

You can raise the average temperature by 32 degrees and the poles would still be cold enough to remain frozen.

The ice caps recede every summer as it is and the ocean levels do not rise at the rates stated in the article.

Yeah. But what if all the clouds emptied out the water in them? Woo hoo! THEN you'd have trouble.

Yo, Nat Geo, just for fun, why don't you do an investigation into why we call Greenland "Greenland" when it's almost totally covered in ice.

And then, at the very end of the show you can tease the audience with, "Now, about Iceland....."

I recall the hole in the ozone layer was going to kill the planet in the 1970s. Hairspray and spray-on deoderant were the major culprits. Remember those 70s hair styles? The Afros?

It is a wonder we survived. I think the reason was haircuts as we entered the 1980s.

I saw a map the other days that showed if all the polar ice melted - there would be no Florida left at all. Or coastal California.

So, yeah. There is a reason to hope the global warming doofuses are right.

If all the ice melted the human population would have died out long ago and the planet would be quite hot.

At quick glance, it looks like Australia is going to lose the least amount of shoreline. We can all move there and hope the massive increase in population doesn’t tip it over.

Antartic ice extent is the greatest since satellite records began in 1979. Global sea ice extent is the sixth greatest since 1979 and artic sea ice is well within the two standard deviations from the 1980-2010 average. We can live with some warming a lot of cooling would be devastating.

There are so many things that are retarded about this article it isn’t funny.

Agenda trumps facts.

Doesn't matter whether it is global warming/cooling/climate change or Obamacare.

I kinda like pic #2 of the Senate building. The only thing missing is Harry Reid floating face down.

Haven’t heard about holes in the ozone since 1993.

Since refrigerants (R12 etc.) jumped about 400% in price.

History Channel had a show a few years ago called “Drain the Ocean”. It was really cool. The new mountain range that would be uncovered in the Bahamas was done very well.

Embarrassing that NatGeo, a magazine that I formerly trusted, would buy into this BS. The Leftists had to change the claim to ‘Climate Change’ because the Earth has been cooling for 15 years! We cannot trust any agency that has been taken over by Leftists to tell the truth. Truth has fallen by the wayside in lieu of political correctness. Rest in Peace, Truth, you were an expendable commodity in the Age of Obama.
