I just read this article on the struggles that many conservative Christian pastors are undergoing, with internet pornography: http://www.christianpost.com/news/pornography-and-pastors-103931/
I believe that easy availability of free porn on the internet has lessened the taboos that Americans traditionally had, when taking about perverted sex acts. People who have viewed internet porn, feel hypocritical when they condemn gay marriage.
Porn is a form of prostitution, and prostitution is illegal in 49 out of the 50 states. Why does local law enforcement prosecute pimps, hookers and johns, for street prostitution, but leave out the millions of incidents of prostitution taking place in all 50 states in the form of internet porn.
In the early days of internet porn, internet users had to confirm they were adults, before they could get access to internet porn. There are no such restrictions today.
I view internet porn as a deliberate globalist plot to destroy America. In 2012, the white population in America declined for the first time in history, something that did not even take place during big wars and the great depression. The number of white Americans who died outnumbered the white Americans who were born by 12,400. I suspect internet porn played a major role in that tragedy. http://www.medicaldaily.com/population-white-americans-declining-first-time-ever-what-will-race-look-americas-future-246815
The Patriotic spirit of a nation is built on the idea of a man willing to die for his wife, children, and neighbors. If a man has no wife and children, and does not invite his neighbors for barbeques, and spends hours daily staring at internet porn, does he really care about the future of his country?
Internet porn may become the Kryptonite that brought down the greatest nation in human history. It is a tragedy similar to that of Samson of the Bible, who was destroyed by his inability to control his own sex drive.
You could make a strong case.
As in “I am enjoying something that violates all traditional moral conventions. I do not appear to be hurting anyone. So why are gays who want to get married any different?”
Once you start warping your logic to self-justify there is no end.
I’d also add that indifference to casual co-habitation between men and women has contributed greatly to support for all sexual perversion. Us conservatives are just as culpable for this as well.
Because only white people watch porn?
Maybe I’m missing the point?
I think one of the biggest contributors to the “acceptance” of sodomitic unions is
a) “Tolerance” of open homosexuals by society
b) The total capitulation of the moral highground and Judaeo-Christian values by the mainstream Christian Churches - Episcopalian, Methodist and Presbyterian as the biggest offerenders.
>>>Because only white people watch porn?
Whites are more likely to have computers with internet connections in their homes than non-Asian minorities. That is an established fact.
30 percent of Americans do not have reliable internet access in their homes http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/30-percent-of-americans-no-broadband/
Most of those without reliable internet access live in rural areas w/o broadband access.
The inner city yutes all have smartphones with internet access.
Porn is NOT prostitution. Are you pulling this stuff out of a hat or what?
Has it helped my view of gay marriage?
Not the porn I watch! /S
Logically porn is a form of prostitution. What is the difference from paying a prostitute to have sex and paying a “porn star” to have sex with another person you intend to film. If the person doing the hiring also happens to be the self-appointed “star” of the film, then there is absolutely no difference between prostitution and porn (except that with porn there is documented record of the activity). The object of both activities is to engage in a commercial transaction aimed at satisfying the carnal desires of people who don’t have the ability to maintain a healthy, exclusive relationship with another adult.
If you’re looking for the social pathology that paved the way for same sex “marriage”, it’s contraception.
Contraception severed the unitive and procreative elements of the sexual act. Once sex was reduced merely to pleasure, and childbearing to an option for those who like that sort of thing, its privatization was complete: with no third person involved, sex/marriage lost their social dimension and became merely the exercise of personal sentiment.
Every heterosexual couple that has practiced contraception at any point over the past 50 years or so bears a share of responsibility for the destruction of our civilization, the normalization of appalling perversions, and the criminalization of those who object.
It most certainly is prostitution, and therefore, like prostitution is frequently human trafficking also. You defend this?
You can't go through life redefining things and expecting others not to challenge you. If you feel porn has a negative effect on some people, make your case. Don't do it with silly word tricks.
I'm sorry, but porn isn't prostitution. Prostitution is prostitution.
Sorry; I didn’t realize you were being reductionist and narrowly technical. I am not interested in the civil law definition of prostitution. I am interested in the moral content and the effects on the persons exposed. I see now that you are not.
What’s the difference between paying a porn star and paying an actress? Both are being paid to entertain viewers... both ofter entertain in ways that are sexual. So by these types of definitions are all actors also prostitutes?
There are lots of things in life that are NOT good ideas... not all of them are illegal. Which is as it should be...
I was critiquing your style.
One of my favorite writers wrote a book some years back that was considered pornographic at the time - but he was also compared to James Joyce in a Boston review. I liked the book. Also thought it was pornographic for the time period he wrote in - maybe still pornographic.
On a lot of issues - like Obama doing a bait and switch lie on ObamaCare - a lie that will hurt millions of citizens - I don't see 'gray' areas. Obama's lies and deception were wrong. With porn - some types - I see shades of gray - not fifty shades - but shades...
To begin with, there is nothing wrong with my style, so let’s get that out of the way right now.
Second: no, I was not talking about the harmful effects of addition. I’m not sure what made you introduce that angle. I was talking about the presence of human trafficking in both prostitution and pornography — a reality no serious person denies.
I am not interested in experimental literature and related critical sophistries. Here’s some advice: pornography is always bad art because it’s sentimental. Entirely apart from moral considerations, it’s junk food. Another reason to avoid it.
A distant acquaintance of mine who frequents porn sites told me something I thought interesting. He said that in the last couple of years, long time sites have started including more and more gay and transvestite porn. These were sites that never had any for about a decade. No, I’m not going to check so I’ll take his word for this one.
of the men who view pornographic material every day or almost every day, 54 percent strongly agreed that gay and lesbian marriage should be legal, compared with around 13 percent of those whose porn-use patterns were either monthly or less often than that. Statistical tests confirmed that porn use is a (very) significant predictor of mens support for same-sex marriage, even after controlling for other obvious factors that might influence ones perspective, such as political affiliation, religiosity, marital status, age, education, and sexual orientation. The study was released just before Christmas and got almost no publicity.
The Communications Decency Act's anti-porn provisions might have been the last chance to keep this in check. There are still anti-obscenity laws on the books that might hurt some smut peddlers, but Bush pulled FBI agents off of prosecutions after 9/11 and Obama isn't enforcing them either.
