Americans who expect to take advantage of high-cost healthcare services may be in for a surprise as many hospitals are refusing to accept Obamacare insurance, according to a new report from WatchDog.org. Most hospitals, the report cites, will only accept Obamacare from one or two insurance providers.
Worse, insurance bought privately outside of Obamacare would have been honored. For example, fourth-ranked Cleveland Clinic accepts dozens of insurance plans if you buy one on your own. But go through Obamacare and you have just one choice: Medical Mutual of Ohio.
The problem is Obamacares cap on premiums has prompted many insurance companies to significantly limit reimbursement to doctors. More and more hospitals are beginning to refuse heavily used and risky Obamacare plans that were purchased within the healthcare marketplace due to fears that policyholders simply cannot afford expensive medical services.

Hospitals have figured out working class families won't be able to pay their $12,000 annual deductible? Stunning. One sick child and most working class families will lose everything. Of course Obama's most dependent - oops - most dependable voters will be totally covered.
November 6, 2012. I rest my case.
This means the democrats are going to push for a COMPLETE takeover of medical care (why do you think they call this the patient CARE act?).
They don’t want doctors to choose their patients, or patients to choose their doctors.
Under commiecare, you go to the doctor that they assign you or die.
(Except for the ruling elite - they have access to the finest, most expensive doctors, paid for by you and me.)
Almost all of the “Obamacare” signups so far actually have been new Medicaid enrollments. Those people will find very limited options.
We were expecting this $h!t, but I hope a righteous sense of betrayal and wrath sends Democrats into the streets of Washington with pitchforks. They deserve everything that is coming to them, and more.
That isn't true. Just the opposite is true. When the hospital provides the type of non-emergent care you describe it is discretionary. EMTALA definition:
An emergency medical condition is defined as "a condition manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected to result in placing the individual's health [or the health of an unborn child] in serious jeopardy, serious impairment to bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of bodily organs." For example, a pregnant woman with an emergency condition must be treated until delivery is complete, unless a transfer under the statute is appropriate.[9] --wiki
That isn't true either, unless you count only those commercial enrollments with the January premium already paid (why would anyone pay before the bill is due?). For example, Washington State has over 60,000 qualified enrollments not paid yet.
The level of disinformation round here is getting as bad as DU or KOS but in the opposite direction.
I guess you know better than the head of the Colorado exchange.
I spent 20 years in hospital administration...specifically *ER* administration...at one of the world's finest hospital's.I've never been a lawyer and never will be but I do know this:our hospital's policy was that *anyone* who presented at the ER,regardless of time of day, severity of their chief complaint or ability to pay *were* to be treated. On several occasions there were complaints by patients that they had been denied treatment in our ER and on each such occasion we (physicians, nurses and administrators) would get a memo from the *legal department* confirming the established policy...*everyone* gets treated. Not being a lawyer I always assumed that this was connected to "Hill-Burton".
I've been out of the health care biz for some time and the law could very well have changed since I left. It's also possible that I mistook hospital policy,as periodically confirmed by our legal department, for Federal law.Another possibility,it would seem,is that it was *Massachusetts* law that we were following.
I'm no expert on *anything* in this life but I do have a fair amount of experience in helping to manage a Massachusetts hospital's ER.
Its the law of the land.
And a flawed law, at that.
Flaw of the land?
Ah, but you're leaving out one important part of the equation, and that's the pain that Obamacare is bringing home to most Americans.
Obama flat out lied to us and his constituents. Now we, and they, are finding out that you can't "keep your plan if you like it", and that the cost to maintain the type of coverage you had, is going through the roof.
At the risk of repeating myself, I'll say again...people who've been responsible enough to work for a living and pay for their health care privately, or through their employer, are not going to be happy with the level of care that the poor receive from Medicaid. Especially when millions upon millions more people are squeezed into the same government run system.
Memories may be short when it comes to flaps and scandals in government, but people aren't likely to soon forget the quality of health care they just recently enjoyed. They're going to object to the quality being reduced, while the price goes up. Someone's going to pay a political price for inflicting that pain, and it won't be the Republicans who wisely kept their fingerprints off the whole thing.
IOW, not the friends of Obama. They are mostly his enemies who didn't vote for him anyway. I hope to hell I'm wrong. I'd love to be proven wrong. I would rejoice at being proven wrong. But my gut feeling is still that we reached the tipping point on November 5, 2012. The offering of a moderate squish was the equivalent of Lot offering his virgin daughters to the people of Sodom in exchange for leaving the holy men visiting his household alone. And the people of Sodom said no.
Those hospitals know those high deductibles will have to be met first. People signing up do not have that kind of cash.
I hear many doctors and hospitals want the deductible met before treating people.
Yeah, people like my liberal, Democrat voting siblings, who all work for a living, own homes, have 401Ks, pay for their kid's college, pay taxes -- and pay for their own health insurance.
Today, my kin are the only libs I know, but there was a time when nearly every friend I had was a lib. We all worked. We all paid taxes. Some were college educated. All were professionals in their work. Not a one of us was on any sort of government welfare program.
The point I'm making, is that there's a large class of self reliant people out there who pay their own way in life, yet still vote for Commies. Those people are getting hurt by Obamacare as badly as any self reliant person on the right.
Not that I'm giving up against the onslaught of the left. No way, no how, not now, not ever. Just that I no longer put much hope is rigged and sham elections.
