Facing a deadly resurgence of al-Qaida in Iraq, President Barack Obama signaled Friday that he will begin increasing U.S. military support for Baghdad after five years of reducing it.
The new U.S. plan represents a remarkable shift for Obama, whose administration trumpeted the 2011 withdrawal of the last U.S. troops from Iraq as a major achievement and has since shifted its attention to other regional challenges, such as Syria, Egypt and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The tune “Listen to the Mocking Bird”, which was on at the begining of the old Three Stooges movie shorts is running through my head.
There’s no way I can see Obamafruit agreeing to this unless the alternative was really, really bad. I wonder what we don’t know.
All of the chemical weapons that were moved to Syria coming back? Who knows. Should be fun to watch the left spin this if true.
I don’t even think he gives a crap about chemical weapons. The worst thing is they’d be used on our guys, and he surely ain’t gonna risk his lib street cred on that inconvenience.
I wonder which world leader threatened him if he didn’t.
what the Iraqi soldiers need is balls and no one can give them that
Sorry. After the surge, there was a window of time to stabilize things. But 0bama wanted credit for stopping a war...and threw a lot of effort/blood and treasure out the window to claim a grand prize. Either he’s listening to Cheney Without acknowledging his own mistake or whether his people are telling him what a CF it has been since he took over, doesn’t much matter. I believe it’s way too late to get this horse back in the barn. But if he does, his first target should be that fat boy from Iran, Moqtada al Sadr. Why that punk was ever left alive is beyond me.
Excellent post. How great would it b if one day the children and grandchildren of those killed could visit a free and prosperous country? It would almost make them losing their lives worth it, for another man and his family to live in peace and freedom.
Maliki requested more support, theoretically to stamp out the Sunni-Shiite conflicts there. It’s plausible that the president of the 57 Islamic states (58, now that the US is included) would want to get involved in Iraq again.
Oh goody! I know are troops are thrilled to hear this-not.
I wonder if he’ll draw a “Red Line?”
Give peace a chance...
Great link: thanks. Maybe some liberals are getting older and just a fractional bit wiser.
God bless you Pop.
The lies just keep coming.
Isn’t it about time for Iraqis to die in defense of Iraq?????
As I recall that's what the dems were saying when Bush was POTUS. Seems they've changed their alleged minds.
Will we see huge anti-war protests like we did under G.W. Bush? Uh, no.
I believe this is material aid in the way of arms and intelligence sharing, etc. rather than personnel.
