This is why Obamacare is canceling some people’s insurance plans
Washington Post ^ | October 29, 2013 | By Sarah Kliff

Let's start with the very basics here. About 15 million people purchase health insurance policies on the individual market. That's about 5 percent of the population.

Some -- or maybe even most -- of the plans offered on the individual insurance market right now don't meet certain requirements in the health-care law. They may not offer preventive care without co-payment, for example, or leave out coverage of maternity care, one of the health-care law's 10 essential benefits.

How many people are going to get cancellation notices?

It's hard to put an exact number on this, given that insurance plans are the ones who decide whether or not to continue offering an insurance product. Experts have estimated that somewhere between half and three-quarters of those who currently buy their own policies will not have the option to renew coverage, which works out to around 7 to 12 million people.

What does this have to do with Obamacare?

Pretty much everything: Since the health-care law required insurance companies to change their plans, this is a direct result of the Affordable Care Act.

7-12 million people will "not be able to keep the plan they like".

Stop. We know that’s impossible. Obama said so himself.

“This is why Obamacare is canceling some people’s insurance plans”

The title makes it sound so trivial “some people’s”. More like a whole hell of a lot of people’s, not to mention the trivial number of people’s who are having their rates doubled and tripled. You have to love the media and how they cover obamaramadingdongs butt.

Just found out yesterday my huge employer is changing us to BC Anthem, which is apparently awful, so none of us are getting to keep the plan we like, either.

This is your notice from Obamacar.....you have to buy a new car with a higher car payment because the car you have now does not comply with the rules under Obamacar. You will be fined....taxed....whatever if you fail to do this. I am from the gubmint and I am here to help you.

Of course, since Obama illegally delayed all oBamKare requirements regarding employer-provided insurance for at least a year, the REAL poop won’t hit the fan for another year, when almost ALL of THOSE plans must be cancelled because they are no longer allowed by oBamKare, and TENS OF MILLIONS of new people receive cancellation notices and/or notices that their rates just tripled and out-of-pocket just quintupled. Of course by then, the 2014 elections will be safely over and most Democrats will have survived.

Paying a big premium for a “free” health checkup once a year is not a good deal. Also, when I was younger and of child-bearing years, I had insurance to cover those things. Now I don’t need that insurance so why do I have to pay for it? There is no risk that I will need maternity services.

The insurance companies don't have to 'decide'. Existing plans are made ILLEGAL by OBAMACARE....................

The MSM and the Democrats have known about this for at least 3 years and they literally attacked those who told the truth.
Now they want to explain it away.

So if I’m a 63 year old male with an individual policy that does not have maternity nor pre-natal care coverage my policy is toast.

Ditto at my employer. They got rid of the HMO option. Now stuck with a BC Anthem PPO or High Deductible plan. Chose the PPO but deductibles have increased by an order of magnitude from around $100 to $1000 per person and the plan will only pay 80% of hospitalizations, etc. post-deductible compared to 90% before. I do save some money from the pay check deduction but dumping all the savings into a Health Savings Plan praying nobody has to go to the ER which is no longer covered. If someone does go to the ER went from $125 co-pay to $1000 deductible + 20% of other costs.

Well of course, how else are all the poor and illegals supposed to get a subsidy to buy a car.

The math is easy
12 million owners of private health insurance need to be cancelled and forced to the obama exchanges with 100-400% premium hike, no subsidy, double or triple deductibles so that obama can afford to pay the subsidies and medicaid premiums of the 11-12 million new enrollees from the soon to be amnestied democratic voter rolls.
