Bob Costas is one of the premier sportscasters and a very smart guy, so it was somewhat surprising to see him join the chorus of those decrying the fact that the owner of the Washington Redskins is resisting the pressures to change the name of his football team.
The argument is that American Indians are offended by the name, though there is no compelling evidence that most American Indians are worked up about it. Nor is there any evidence that anyone intended the name to be insulting, either by this team or any number of other sports teams that have called themselves some variation of the name "Indians."
After all, neither individuals nor teams give themselves names that they consider insulting, whether they are calling themselves Indians, Vikings or The Fighting Irish.
Nevertheless, Dartmouth, Stanford and other colleges that once called their teams Indians succumbed to the politically correct pressures and changed their names. But that is no reason why the Washington Redskins should succumb to those pressures.
Among the reasons why they should not is the fact that being offended is one of the tactics of a race hustling industry that is doing more harm to Indians and other minorities than any name is likely to do. Some people are in the business of being offended, just as Campbell is in the business of making soup.
Shelby Steele's best-selling book "White Guilt" provides sharp insights into the many counterproductive consequences of white guilt that can be exploited by race hustlers, to the detriment of blacks and whites alike. The sports team gambit is just one of many.

Thomas Sowell is a splendid American and a gifted and insightful writer.
What the race baiters like Al Sharpie and Jesse Jackass, et al, have done is to exacerbate and expand race hatred. They have agitated the ghetto gutter trash to murder and rape more white people. Unfortunately, there are many whites who have become disgusted with the worthless America negro. They, like the Muslims, bring absolutely NOTHING to the table. They have become personally valueless to all but the left wingers.
Their loses over the past few years are of astronomical proportions. There is nothing to be gained by allowed a group to be morphed into a feared and hated minority!
Dr Sowell is one of the best. He makes mincemeat of the race pimps and loser naacp types and they know it. That is why they are filled with hate for the man.

Bob Costas sucks. As one who was familiar with the race issue that caused the estrangement between Ken Norton and Ken Norton Jr., Costas trying to ambush interview Norton Jr on the way to the locker rooms at halftime showed what a colossal ass Costas is.

Those are the offended that the 'movement' was counting. Whenever Costa's on (be it on MLB or alphabet network), I switched. Not after his gun tirade.

What was that about???
KN Sr hated white people and KN Jr married one. They didn’t speak for a long time. As the Cowboys were going to the locker room at half-time, Costas tried to stop Jr to get a comment on his family situation. Jr gave Costas a “go to hell” look and kept going.

I certainly hope that the self-segregated Black folk to not look around at their surroundings and think, “Oh, all I see are Black people. Everybody must be Black, so we can win a race war.”
That would be a serious error on their part.
This “hate Whitey” stuff has been going on for a long time. Most Blacks with whom I have worked or have gone to college spent a lot of time with other Blacks and stared down their noses at any white people who were around and about.
Their hatred of white people, as Dr. Sowell said, is being fomented and taught to them, while whites are taught tolerance and diversity. IOW, sitting ducks.
Get a concealed carry license, folks. And always carry. I do.
