Very iffy in my K22 Outdoorsman (1930), a modern 617, a Model 18, and M41. Maybe it’s a Smith thing?

I seriously agree.

10w30 better that 10w50 in Alaska works good ,but not in the desert.

Heavy lube does not seem to work in cold climates or desert climates.

I’ve shot a ton of Thunderbolt in my 10/22 with no problems. Remington Golden Bullets are about the only thing I’ve had problems with.

What I found yesterday is either the 10/22 has a light firing pin or Remington Thunderbolt has a hard primer.

I suspect The Remington ammo has a hard primer and the tube fed 22 rifles have a meaner firing pin for safety reasons.

Don’t need no bullets in the pipe causing a chain reaction in the tube mag with nose to primer.

This **** gets serious with 44 mag tube fed lever action rifles.

I heard that; pretty scary if it gets away fro you and sprays rounds all over the place. Major legal problems ensue.

All I have that could do that is the SKS.

I keep that firing pin channel hosed out with Ezzox.

Interesting, the only tube fed rifle I have is a 70’s vintage Weatherby Mark XXII. Never shot it with TB’s.

I am in search of a 1873 Winchester clone for Cowboy shooting.

Maybe there’s a little more headspace on the take-down model.

I watched a YouTube vid one time where a guy measured the rim thickness on a bunch of 22 cartridges and they varied quite a bit. Even on rounds in the same box. When he shot rounds with the same rim thickness, they all grouped together nicely too.

As far as I know, all the old tube fed lever actions were designed to use flat nose lead ammo and hard primers so no hardnose bullet with nose to primer never set off a chain reaction in the tube.

That could very well be true.

It is adjustable.

Yes, Nytexan and I attempted to put one in in short order Sat morning.
Its simple but I need a bench and sharp light for my weak old eyes.

NTY had the Volquartsen bolt release but my eyes were weak and there was no bench

You can modify the existing bolt release in a matter of minutes with a simple 1/4” dia round file.

Just grind the little tit out..
