(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Tennessee Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen called tea party congressional Republicans “domestic enemies” against which he must defend the country, describing them as rabid, sophomoric and in ambitious pursuit of their policies.

“I obviously do not have an opportunity to go within the conference, the Republican — we call it a caucus, they call it a conference,” Cohen said on Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki.” “But I know some of the members there — and a lot of those members — they’re rabid, they’re sophomoric, literally, they’re second term in Congress, never worked in politics before, and they think they are somehow like — it’s all talked in military terms. They think they’re some kind of guerrillas there to strike a blow for freedom.”

The Tennessee Democrat warned the tea party may try to pursue its shutdown strategy once again. But he added that it was his duty as a member of Congress to support the country from all enemies domestic and foreign — portraying the tea party members as domestic enemies...

They view the whole world as if it were a pride fight. (Not a typo)

Antagonistic rhetoric. As an official, he should be censored.

I certainly have some common ground with posts eight nine ten eleven and twelve.

There were perhaps three unanswered questions, for this absentee TN landowner. Mogadishu on the Mississippi answered one, indicating he isn’t in my district. The other relates to personal recognition, which was answered here: http://cohen.house.gov/legislative-work/vote-ratings and third would be his voting record which absolutely stinks, stacked or compared with anything conservative, answered in the same link. He rates high on a great many issues of a “progressive” nature consistent with his party politics.

Make no mistake, and do not underestimate what will be attempted to not only criminalize Conservatives, but in the name of security and the promise of normalcy ERADICATE those they are depicting as domestic enemies.

I have no doubt this is what they want to do, but with so many weapons out there, I think they might try a major gun grab first.

He also couldn’t tie AC Wharton’s shoes as far as being a skilled politician.

Revealing statement, and kudos to Mayor Wharton, unless I missed a /s somewhere.

They've been trying to disarm for decades. Following in the footsteps of their 1930's German counterparts. It's what National Socialists do.

Short of that, they'll be using Obamacare to exterminate those that disagree with them. Count on it.

They showed their hand when the IRS started going after those that politically disagreed with "der Fuhrer".

The oath I took some 35 years ago said “to support the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic” which in my book would include anyone associated with the Democratic Party. Though retired for several years now, I still take that oath to heart. Best keep you head down, Stevie. Don’t let that mouth write checks your body can’t cash.

Cohen attends every community event in scorching heat, pouring rain, at ghetto hood rat plagued street corners, GLBT bars, charity events, church picnics, etc....I've met him and really pressed my positions while he did respectfully listen and respond. He attends these functions with no handlers, security detail, or staffers. It's just him. That I find that he has a simple modest honesty about him and his choices.

Cohen is representing most of his constituents and their priorities. Granted those priorities are awful and misdirected efforts toward self destruction, but he sees it as his job to strictly represent and not lead. I find that a weak and purposeless choice.

Bottom line is that he services his community consistently for what is the majority.

Can you imagine being the mayor of Memphis? He has brought in Mitsubishi, Krueger paper mill, Electrolux, Smuckers peanut butter, and dozens of other MANUFACTURERS to the city. Very high paying plentiful jobs exist in Memphis for those who have the training and qualifications to perform them. The manufacturers are on the most part non-union and wonderful to work for. Wharton has also worked tirelessly to keep companies here. I won't go down the lists, but it's huge.

Wharton has done all this while keeping the unions at bay, keeping the racial peace, and has almost personally headed up the rebirth of midtown Memphis with arts centers, ballet, theater, music venues, and I've even run into him at Home Depot at 7:00 on a Saturday morning where he wanders the aisles just to get a chance to chat with folks who work hard at life.

It's not easy in so many ways when you do what he does as well as he can.

Rep. Steve Cohen is referring to the people of this country as "domestic enemies" of the regime. Steve Cohen's domestic enemies are the WWII veterans, the Vietnam War veterans, voters with common sense, voters who believe in fiscal responsibility, voters who believe in God, voters who respect the sanctity of life, voters who know that men and women are different.

Steve Cohen is talking about a whole lot of people in this country and calling them "domestic enemies."

That's Memphis speak for whitey. Whitey clings to his guns-n-bible. Progressives cling to their EBT card, and Obamaphone.

I had never heard of the guy. I did a google Image search and these are representative (no pun) of what's there.

I do not know if it means what I think but if it does this guy is living the good life at taxpayers' expense.

A study by Professor David Kahan, Law and Psychology, Yale University, showed that Tea Party members have better science comprehension than the general population. No doubt there are other things they’re better at, as well.
